For sale is my Mazda 323f LXi. It’s a great little car and I’d happily keep it, but the new London ULEZ regulations mean I have to start looking for something a bit newer. I’ve tried to be as honest and as detailed as possible in my description but please contact me if you have any questions.
It’s a 1.5-litre model, so it’s economical, cheap to tax and benefits from very affordable insurance. It costs just £13 per month to tax and regularly returns 45mpg – not bad for a new car, let alone one that’s 22 years old!
This car has only had two owners from new and covered fewer than 80,000 miles. It was garaged for almost twenty years by its first owner and is in lovely mechanical condition. The steering wheel is slightly faded and there’s some wear to the driver’s seat but the interior is in really good condition.
Unlike many of these Mazdas, the retractable ariel for the stereo works perfectly; as do the electrically adjustable wing mirrors, the electric windows and the six-CD changer in the boot.
The engine starts on the button every time and pulls strongly in every gear. The steering tracks straight and there aren’t any nasty knocks or clunks from the suspension over speed bumps.
The central locking works, but the keyhole on the passenger’s side is stuck, so you have to lock it from the driver’s side instead. There are a few scratches on the paintwork, and there’s a spot where it’s started to fade, but overall it still looks pretty presentable for a car this age. Best of all, the sunroof doesn’t leak at all – even if you point a jet wash right at it!
The cambelt was changed at 56,000 miles, and this car passed its MOT in April with no advisories. I’ve also fitted four new Avon tyres in the last year-and-a-half, so there’s plenty of life left in them.
I’m not in a hurry to sell, but because of the new ULEZ rules, it feels like it’s time for someone else to enjoy this little car.
