I'm all over this 323. These have aged so well - like you could almost make them now and they'd fit right in.  I remember a billboard ad around 1996 that was like - "Mazda 323 - Smooth Like Pebble; Golf - Square like Brick' or something similar |

I spent many a happy weekend trackside at Brands Hatch picking up stray bits of touring cars off the track and digging errant loonies out of the gravel traps. It did wonders for my broom skills too.lol oh and i got Jeff Allams sig too...  Good Lord a Mazda Xedos, I’d forgotten they existed. |

Super touring people carriers are not really a thing you tend to see, which is a shame because I recon they would look amazing. |

Even our Nige had a go, I remember him racing at Donington in the pouring rain.  And his massive accident there in ‘93 I was there at Donnington that day when he did the TOCA shootout, he crashed into the bridge wall right in front of us.... big impact.... he was lucky not to have been very seriously injured |

I was there too, but round the otherside of the track. Horrible horrible impact
Another big one was the Charlie Cox Crash at Thruxton.
I was there and saw pretty much the same view as what that camera did. Me and a mate ran round the back of the grandstand to see the car. All I can remember is that it looked like the roll cage was on the outside of the car. The car was that battered. We didnt stay there long.

It's amazing how safe a proper race car is, I'd hate to know how those crashes would have ended in a road car. How about a JTCC Toyota Chaser, very rare for one to be built not to go sideways!  |
