Hello guys need some advice I cut my springs on my Mercedes r129, before cutting the centre of hub to wheel arch was 40cm after cutting a coil it's 38cm,it still sits a little higher, but was wondering how long to wait before cutting another coil as I know the springs may need to settle down or is there anything I can do to make the spring settle all help appriciated in advance Thank you
I wouldn't wait a period of time as such, I'd just go for a quick spin, make sure you take in a few corners to give the suspension a good work out, then see how it sits. That should be all the settling it needs, any more after that I would have thought would be negligible.
Also, are you aware of the different thicknesses of spring pads for Mercs? Sometimes just changing them for the next size can give you the difference you need.
When I cut the springs on my W124, it made the ride quite bouncy, just to warn you!

Thanks Jez what the max amount of coils you can remove on these springs, also my pad has 3 points on it what size would this be and how could I get a smaller width pad, as Mercedes just give me the one that's only persific to my car thanks
I can't advise on the number of coils to cut, because I bought some lowering springs and cut them! Search around on here and the internet in general though, you'll find loads of people have done it already. Coilovers are non-existent for these cars so chopping is common.
I think spring pads come in 4 thicknesses, 1 dot is thinnest and 4 dots thickest, but check that first, my memory isn't the best!

Thanks speedy I cut mine 1 1/2 from front and it seems ok I read up that cutting 2 or more puts more strain on the shock, but to be honest cutting 1 coil felt ok but cutting 1 1/2 coil you can feel the ride quality going not so comfy but I know that the oem springs have more movement Than lowering springs so I'm bit reluctant to go further Il post up a pic on how it sits now
