Volvo 940 GLE 16valve Estate, 155 BHP as standard, 1992, J.Reg. Auto, Low Mileage (137 117 miles).
Metallic Blue/Green (depending on light). Registered 29/1/92, so an early 940.
Being the very rare 16 Valve 2.3 red block 4 cylinder non turbo engine, this is a much sought after variant indeed. These rare 16 valve engines, are favoured by both the Americans and also the Scandinavians, especially when it comes to building a strong custom engine, for their classic/retro/modified Volvos. 16 valves are rarely seen/available here in the UK. I doubt you will find another 1992 16valve GLE estate, with this low mileage, for sale, anywhere in the UK right now!
The leather interior is in almost mint condition (apart from a small finger nail size mark) to the driver’s seat. The outside/bodywork/paintwork is also in remarkable condition, however there are slight blemishes/marks here and there, but considering that the car is 27+ years old, these minor marks are certainly nothing to worry about. 5 matching factory alloy wheels (Dracos) as standard, with a set of 4 good Firestone 195/60/15 tyres. Electric windows x 4, Electric Mirrors, Electric Sunroof, Heated Seats, recent Starter Motor, recent part Exhaust. Full Logbook in my name and address, 2 sets of Keys + Master key, old MOT’s/Paperwork/Bills. Cambelt replaced at 128 363 miles. A recent Fresh Mot, it expires April 2020. Classic Insurance, so a fully comp policy costs less than £200 per year. No Pets, a non-smokers car, no tow bar.
The 2 previous owners were Uncle and Nephew, and between them they owned the car for many years, the Nephew aged 60!
This is not a restored show car, it does have slight blemishes/marks, and after all…it is over 27 years old.
Study the photos, the car is bone dry in the pics, no professional valeting or detailing/polishing here, just a clean/dry car.
I would imagine that if a Dealer/Trader had this car up for sale (once they employed someone to give it a full detail/polish) then said Dealer would “pitch” the price, at beyond £5000.
This Volvo is a classic, the rare 16 valve variant, it can only increase in value, an investment for the enthusiast. Reluctantly selling for just £2995, which is £1500 below its modest insured value! Texts are time consuming, so a phone call/chat is the better option. 07936 027216.
Points to consider – Slight blow on exhaust (at join, when new section was replaced). Driver’s seat has tiny wear mark (the size of a finger nail). Driver’s door has a feint key scratch/mark (approx. 12 inches/30cms). Small chip to windscreen. Small corrosion/rust spot, at top corner of passenger door frame. Radio is not factory Volvo.
Note - I have 2 Volvo estates for sale, which ever one sells 1st, then i shall probably keep the other...I just cant make up my mind which car to keep, so have put both up for sale.
