Right anybody who is locked out check the email service you use on AS, another user who was locked out has reported an email to say there have been repeated failed login attempts from Edinburgh so his account has been locked until the time in the email,
This next bit is my take and not official in any way:
As this seems to be a problem for multiple users it would be worth changing any other accounts the the same usernames passwords, I don't know if the username database has been breached but I doubt a dictionary type attack would have picked up the usernames involved.

I got on fairly easily with a 'forgot my pw' request, email confirmation to my user email & new pw [typed twice]. I'm as dense as a pitprop so, iteration will assist 'relearning' where posts are/timeline/searching... Looks quite smart tho  OVIMOR |

....the name does nothing to entice me That was always my problem with it. I had a quick look around quite a few years ago, though that will have been limited to what I could see without joining. I also didn't like that some members of that forum got together to do a stand at a local car show, and had a banner printed. It's one thing having a jokey name on the web, but to have it printed and stuck up where there's kids around is a bit far IMO. Maybe it's me. Too right! The next thing you know they'll letting "kids" look at the internet. |

I still don't know what exactly happened with the recent splinter forum. Clearly *something* happened, and lots of accusations have been thrown around, and it all seemed to revolve around some admin being less than impartial and some users being very Facebook in response and since nobody could agree on the best course of action, there was a falling out.
Some people I enjoyed the online company of disappeared from the forum, some people whose online company I didn't care for disappeared from the forum, and things carried on.
TDW contains a lot of the users that were making autoshite an unpleasant environment for me and I'm glad they've found a place they can call their own and work their own way. Pleasing everyone when a forum gets to a certain size is very difficult, and autoshite seems to have more difficulty with it than most which is why there's so regularly splinters, quiet periods, busy periods, and the occasional Great Fire. The splinter forums always end up even more cliquey than the original is perceived to be and it all gets very playground politics.
While there is part of me would like to know just exactly what went on behind the scenes, a larger part of me is happier to remain blissfully ignorant because I simply haven't the energy to be dealing with whatever tantrums, mismanagement, poor admin decisions, personality clashes, and other bullpoop people have going on.
Best thing to do is just crack on with enjoying whatever it is you enjoy and leave the whole mess to sort itself out, which it will eventually. Either that or the whole thing will disappear up its own foxpicture and we'll all forget about it and move on.

It's probably not for the best if the AS and ex-AS lot go through this again but basically some people decided they didn't like the site anymore and left.
It wasn't quite the apocalyptic collapse the splinter group might have you think though. AS had some planned down time and is having glitches ironed out of the new software.
