Would removing the wheel arch’s front and back and replacing the tyres with deeper tread tractor tyres be an option. Spare fuel tanks on the flat back of the bonnet I'll probably be running taller Vredestein or Maxxis all terrain tyres. They make them in the right size so I won't need to remove the arches  |

I possibly have have a lead on some 1200 GS exhaust parts. Would they be of any use to you?? Thank you very much for the offer but I'm picking up a custom made exhaust over the weekend. It's a thing of beauty, it has a heat exchanger which will allow the cabin heating to still work with the BMW engine. The joys of air cooled... |

Feels like Christmas! Picked up some vital goodies for the build: - Custom exhaust with a heat exchanger in order to get the heater in the car to work again. - Adapter plate to bolt the BMW engine to the 2CV gearbox - Crank adaptor - Modified flywheel - New clutch - Throttle body cable   Also managed to prep and paint the lower bulkhead in EM-121 epoxy paint, this is one of the parts that rusts the most so I'll go to any length to keep the worm away!  Tasks for tomorrow: - Stone chip the lower bulkhead - Paint the whole bulkhead so I can start bolting the fuelling system (which arrives tomorrow!) to it - Separate the steering rack from the suspension arms (rack is going away for a rebuild and some upgrades and the arms are also going away for a belgian arm conversion!). For those wondering what a belgian arm is: A second member gets welded on the arm to support the king pin from the top. Given what the car is going to be doing and the power upgrades it seems sensible! Standard arm:  Belgian arm upgrade:  |

Some good progress today and more goodies arrived! Adaptor plate mounted on the engine, modified 2CV flywheel and brand new clutch fitted. Note the 4 studs ready to accept the 2CV gearbox when it comes back with its Quaife LSD! I pronounce you: Citroen and Bike!   New toys arrived today! The whole fuel system is in this box. (Not the dog, already had him... He's not into cars)  |

[/quote] There's one local to us that get quite excited by cats..... Local cats have to be quick to stay alive. He also brought down a deer once - didn't know what to do after that and just sat on it until the owner caught up and hauled him off! Deer was unharmed. The car saw the light of day for the first time in months this morning! Loaded up (sans front axle unfortunately) and headed up to Steve Walford Motorsport in Birmingham for its MSA roll cage and frames for the seats and harnesses! It's going to be gone for a 2 or 3 weeks, which gives me a chance to tidy up the chaos (I mean... garage) it's been living in. When it's back it'll be time to split the body off the chassis again, paint it, put the drivetrain in go for a drive! (Sounds so easy when said like that...).    On another note, I've found another event that would be great as a shakedown (and for which I happen to have the time off for!). The Spain Classic Raid! Only issue is that it's in October... An artificially tight, self imposed deadline! Yay! |

Small update today. Car is still away at Steve Walford Motorsport getting its roll cage built, so I started by sorting out the garage (it really needed it, I have tools again now!). My mate came over to help and kindly sorted out a great hole on the top of the driver's door.  It wasn't as bad as the hole on the door behind it (that door is heading to the scrapper). Today I decided to start looking at the front wings. I had this naive expectation that they wouldn't need much doing, but here's a little gem it threw at me!  So out came the welder and the cutoff wheel again   Turned out OK I think, this is without filler of any sort! A 2CV is definitely a way of learning to weld. Also made a small but important addition to the garage! #hipsterpoints  |

Things are starting to come together! The car has been away for a while getting seat frames and roll cage made (I do trust my welding skills but I'll leave this one to the pros). I've got to say Steve Walford Motorsport have done an incredible job! Top guy too!     The front suspension arms now have the Belgian arm treatment too, with the second member supporting the top of the hub being completely new. This I left to a pro also as the rose joint has to be bang on center with the axis of rotation. I could probably approximate it but this is someone who has done loads of them in the racing world. Amazing job he's done, thanks Wayne!  Also the wiring loom is all stripped out and with no protection at the moment. I want to do a neat installation with my own fuse and relay boxes, so some trimming and lengthening will probably have to occur when on the car. A lot of unnecessary stuff on this loom! No stand switch on a 2CV...  Apart from that, it's been shopping mainly! Club filler neck (includes a return line for the injection shenanigans)  Kevlar rear wings (because race car), thanks to VGS over in Belgium  VGS heavy duty suspension bits:   My poor wallet... It'll all be worth it in the end! And it's not too expensive as far as engine swaps and things like these go I don't think! That's what I like to tell myself at least. |

Boy has a lot happened since I last posted! A lot of progress has been made, it's been arduous but I can see light at the end of the tunnel! After making the engine mounting frame mockup I fired up Fusion 360 and designed something a bit less... crude shall we say. Luckily I know someone with access to laser cutting and folding facilities (thanks Chris!). Test fitting the oil cooler (one of several!)  This required quite a lot of measuring!  BMW 2CV Engine Mount - Cardboard Edition  Yeah baby!  YEAHHHHH BABY!!!!  The car is also now painted in satin RAF Blue Grey, with rollers and rattle cans. It's come out really well actually! Very surprised as I wasn't expecting too much. (Spends all his money on parts and uses rattle cans for paint... Priorities right?)    All four suspension arms are a touch beefier than before!    I'm now building up the chassis with new fuel and brake plumbing. The routing of the fuel lines is a touch different as it now needs a return line to the tank. Resolved this by getting a club filler neck which has a return inlet, no tank drilling here!  Hopefully within the next month or so it'll all be assembled and ready for wiring (that's going to be fun!) |
