With a wee tear in my eye it’s time for my CROWN to move on to a new owner. Imported a year ago myself, it’s been a great car but my list of JDM cars to try is long and it’s making way for a Lancer Wagon or Lexus ISF. I would have kept it if I didn’t have my Leon 300 lease, I also tried persuading my Wife to accept it as a replacement for her aging Hyundai i10, no joy, too big.
There is a thread on the car with lots of info here: forum.retro-rides.org/thread/202196/2000-toyota-CROWN-althete-estate
I’m planning on advertising to the main groups that I think would be of interest, Driftworks, JZmafia and Retro Rides. I hope my description comes across that I do genuinely wish it to go to a good home. I’m just back from doing the North Coast 500 and the car was a gem, honestly, a great smooth but powerful car for the trip, it was awesome. Anyways, the main details are:
• Toyota CROWN Athlete V Wagon
• 2.5 1JZ GTE VVTi Single Turbo with auto box and steering wheel controls
• Just MOT’d with no advisories
• Approx 46k Miles (75k KM’s)
• Mechanically excellent and very good overall condition
• Mileage verified in Japan
The car has the following spec/items:
• Climate control
• Electric Sunroof (love it)
• Japanese touch control NAV with Beatsonic Cable for Aux-in and band expander
• Electric driver’s seat and electric rear seats
• Soft close boot
• Auto headlights with standard HID’s
• Electric and folding mirrors
• Electric parking pole
• Remote locking, 2 keys
• Lexus 17” Alloys with New Tyres all round with 5mm hub centric spacers
• Spare set of 16” Standard BBS alloys with new Tyres all round
• CROWN Boot Mat and boot cover
• It has standard nets for the boot when the floor is flat
• The springs and shocks have been changed to a set of IS200 coilovers, 12kg front and 10kg rear
• Subaru Intake installed (sounds great, lots of spool noise)
• Decatted
• Undersealed
• New Battery
• Standard boost, I really feel that it drives so well as it is I didn’t want to change it
• Drilled and grooved front Discs
I also have some bits including the owner’s club keyring, a nice brochure etc as well as the standard air box and a spare nav screen for parts. The coilovers sorted the handling out but it is soft, this is the way I like it, it’s not ruined the good ride basically.
The private plate is being removed and the X plate added back on. The buyer can have a USB stick full of photos and history to go with the car including the original import movie in Japan etc.
Overall it’s a superb car, it was faultless on the NC500 across roads of all surface types. It was decent on fuel at a steady pace. I will really miss it
Please find below a few pics from the NC500 this weekend plus a few pics of the interior and the underside before I had it sealed, its in great condition. Its not absolutely perfect, I’ll be super honest with anyone as I know the car so well. There are a few nicks where the seat belt has been closed on the door card, the paint on the drivers side wing has faded a little and there will be a few other minor things with a car that’s 20 years old.
I'm pricing the car fairly in my opinion at £4500 which I think is cheap considering the mileage and condition. I'm based not far from Glasgow.
I might have missed some important info! If I remember I’ll add it in as an edit or just ask
