I bought a CCTV system called Kare, I bout it from amazon. It’s a four camera system with infa red, 1 TB DVR, it can do email alerts and you can get an app for you phone or tablet, I can view my house from anywhere in the world, which I have done! I did have to buy a small monitor for it tho.
i bought a complete set on ebay for £50 4 cameras dvr mouse and all fixing £80 to fit , best money ive spent , it gos a treat infra red as ye can see in pic , i have 2 criss crossing the front of the house , 1 inside the house facing the front door , 1 in yard covring gates garage ,
I think snipers would solve alot of issues, apparently its not allowed because criminals have human rights - they wont have when I rule.
Unless you're talking high end stuff, the recorders are all much of a muchness, its the cameras that make the difference. I bought a cheap set as a bit of a deterrent for a house I was refurbing, it turned out to be surprisingly good - Ebay search for 'Zosi', bit of a saving to be made by buying your own hard drive too. The next step up is one of the Swan sets, slightly better night vision.
same here i was at nec when i got a call to say someone was outside my bunglow taking pics 11,30 at night , cameras caught the person , but turned out to be nothing , also caught 4 boys stealing neighbours car
I’ve heard very good things about Hikevision. A friend has a cracking install from them and the quality is superb. I’ve actually been looking at their entry level basic set up at just under £500. Interesting to see the quality of the images there.
I’m tempted to put a cheaper sub £250 system up, but I know when It will stay up there for ten years and I don’t want to be screwed if I ever need it and the quality is too poor.
I got a wireless Arlo system, mostly because I wanted flexibility and not to be running wires all over my house. Works well, alerts on app etc, although I've only been using it to locate and catch a mouse so far! I notice some of the camera shots posted are pointed at neighbours' properties, and one even seemingly into the neighbour's front room?? Just to note you need to have permission for that... There are laws about invasion of privacy etc around CCTV.
Thanks for all of your help,I'm installing a cheap system that has good reviews and will let you know how it goes. Police busted 12 people locally, so hopefully things will settle down, but it's gone from a quiet village to dodge city in ten years here
