Hello once again.
Just looking for a bit of advice.
I have owned a 3.2 V6 TT for nearly 6 years now. Cracking car and I love it. However a few years ago I had an oil pressure warning pop up on the dash. I didn’t have the time to sort it and I pushed it into the garage after a brief look and admitting defeat. I’ve now uncovered it and am certain to rectify the problem.
After reading on many owners clubs it seems apparent that oil pump failure is very uncommon with these engines, same engine as the R32 golf, but faulty sensors and faulty dash pods are quite common.
The sensor is in a right pig of a spot to get to, as is everything on these cars. After performing a test to confirm everything is ok I have a replacement sensor and I am tempted to fit a T-piece, with the OEM sensor on one section and an aftermarket sensor on the other, wired into a gauge so I can keep an eye on the exact oil pressure, just to keep my mind at rest.
My question is, do you seal these sensors?
My concern is any sealing product effecting the actual sensor part of the sensor and resulting in a false reading. It’s advised with these engines, as I’m sure it is with every engine that uses a sealant type gasket, to use it sparingly so it doesn’t compress into the sump and block the strainer.
So, has anyone used one of these oil sensor splitters before? If so have you found them to give an accurate reading of the oil pressure?
If you have used them have you sealed them in?
Any help would be great. Thanks.
