I have put the car on sale on Polish Fiat Punto forum and our local "craigslist-equivalent" specifically mentioning that the engine is sound and most of the electrical equipment works.
So on monday I decided to try and start the car, just to hear the lovely diesel clapping for the last time before it's sold. The battery wasn't charged but had enough to crank it. After few revolutions it coughed to life and sounded like everything is ok for a few seconds. Then, it began to screech like there was a cat being torn apart (no cats were harmed during the startup) in the engine bay and after a short moment it stalled. Next cranking sessions ended up draining the battery so I left it to charge overnight.
Yesterday I tried to start it again and it's extremely slow even with good charge. After a while it speeds up but it sounds bad. I think that the cambelt slipped and the timing is off.
Sharon decided to fight me at the last stage of our relationship. Now it's official - it's going to the scrapyard as soon as I come back from holiday.
so now you start making a barbeque ffrom the front of the car!! a carbeque!!
Unfortunately to be able to get rid of the car legally there has to be at least 90% of the original mass of the vehicle. If I could (and if I had spare time) I'd keep the front half of the car and make a car simulator.
