For sale is my Volvo V70 T5 - 250 BHP of 5 Cylinder Turbo-Charged Swedish goodness!
Owned since August 2018. Covered a few thousand trouble-free miles, including p*ssing many cars off who just thought it was an old clapped out Volvo estate.
100% reliable. No leaks. No overheating. Idles in the correct manner. Always starts first time, even if left unused for weeks. Never once let me down in the time I have owned it.
Being the 5 speed manual, it has less to fail as opposed to the auto, which have torque convertor and clutch plate issues.
Brakes are fine, with no shuddering or hesitation. A few minor clonks on the front suspension, most likely ARB links.
Great, fast, practical estate car which has an amazing carrying capacity.
Everything works as it should, apart from the interior lights (disconnected). The heaters are excellent, and it warms up to temperature quickly. EML light intermittently comes on and off, although it in no way effects the drive or pull.
Some of the comfiest seats you will ever experience in any car. These seats, along with that legendary engine, always makes sure that every drive puts a smile on your face.
The exterior is in presentable condition for the year and mileage, but not mint or immaculate. There are a few scuffs on the bumper corners. Stone chips to the front. Marks and blemishes as to be expected. Cleans up well, but please remember this is an old work horse, and will never be your pride and joy or a garage queen!
The interior is all solid and in one piece, with a split to the driver's seat base (common on these). No other major rips, tears or marks on the leather. A few marks on the plastics here and there.
Good spec including - Black Sports Leather, Heated Front Seats, 17" Alloy Wheels, Premium CD Audio with Dolby Surround, Privacy Glass (Tinted), Electric Windows x 4, Electric Heated Door Mirrors, Power Steering, Multi Function Steering Wheel, Multiple Cupholders, Cruise Control, Alarm, Central Locking, etc.
Unfortunately, it failed its MOT today. Failed on Emissions and EML Light, Catalytic Convertor Missing (these first there items are most likely linked), OSF Brake Hose, NSR Tyre Wrong Direction. A few minor advisories.
Brake hoses aren't too bad to do, and its only the OSF one that needs replacing. At some point I think someone has removed the Cat. This is now an automatic failure, and will most likely be causing the EML light to come on, as well as the high emissions. A second hand cat will / should solve this, and the rear wheels just need swapping over so that the NSR tyre will be facing the right direction (once it is on the other side).
You can check the MOT history on line by searching on the reg of the car - Y241 YJE.
I am a little undecided on what to do. Part of me wants to get these bits done and then keep it for another year. It's one of those cars that you know you can jump in, start it up and drive to wherever you need to go - it will always get you there. The other part of me is thinking to sell as it is and let someone have it as a little project. Hence why it is here on good old RR.
I have priced it at £550 as it currently is. I genuinely don't think it will need more than £200 spending on it to get it through the MOT. Buy a decent second hand Cat from a breaker. Brake hose can't be more than £30 or so. Wheel swap is free (do it yourself). Once the Cat is in place, clear the EML light with a diagnostic and that will hopefully also fix the emissions issue.
With a 12 month ticket, this is worth £1k all day long, which is a fair price for a fully functioning V70 T5. I've been watching the over the past few months, the values for the T5 are on the up, and they do seem to have a bit of a cult following. Generally it's a decent lump with good tuning potential.
If there isn't much interest in the next week or so, then I will look at getting the bits sorted and then re-tested to get it through the MOT within the 10 day grace period. Or might even put on eBay if I fancy having my time wasted.
I don't bite, but will not tolerate time wasters, p*ss takers or scammers. No silly offers please, I would rather fix and keep it. The smiles per mile factor on this is quite high!
