Has anyone had any experience of this type of switch? I disconnect the batteries from our camper (main and leisure) as it is left for periods of time, but would these stand up to cranking amps of a big diesel passing across them? Just to save on the faff of messing with terminals or fitting FIA type big red ones. Not too fussed about security, just convenience. Thanks in advance.

Hi, They had them fitted on Mercedes Actros and Unimogs at the last place I worked, so yes they're more than up to the job.

Ah, bit bigger diesels than mine then. Ace, thanks. I'll get a couple of half-decent quality ones ordered. I hadn't come across them before.

One thing to be aware of is that the batteries will still self-discharge. The only way I've found to keep batteries maintained well is to put them onto a smartcharger or a decent automatic charger. The battery I've fitted into my Merc is now 10 years old, but still has full cranking capacity. I would only ever put onto a smartcharger every 6 months for years which seems to have done the trick . Just as well as a replacemnt for that size (900CCA) is around £130+ .
