Hi
The Multi just about sneaks under the retro-rides barrier as it's on a Y plate!
Anyway, surprisingly for an Italian car approaching its 20th birthday, it has weird electrical problems. For a start, it used to throw up plenty of weird computer codes, mostly for the lambda sensor. New sensor in new manifold didn't really fix it. A mobile mechanic with a very expensive OBD reader identified some hidden codes mostly to do with injector problems. I got some cheap injector cleaner fuel additive and that seemed to clear up all the engine codes. But it still has tragically low MPG (below 30 for a 1.6 petrol engine) and a nasty habit of stalling in car-parks, probably because it idles at below 700.
Now I have a series of choices:
Keep on chucking injector cleaner through it and see if that improves the MPG and car-park stalling.
Take out the injectors and either have them cleaned or replace them. This could be quite expensive.
Replace the ECU. This might also solve another problem - no matter what I've done to it, it has never switched the fan on when it gets hot. Again could be quite expensive and difficult with the reprogramming etc.
Are there any other options out there?
Cheers
Graham
