I'm still semi debating getting rid of this, but something very cool has popped up, and well, I may as well see what is being offered.
So, what's the deal with this?
It's a Swindon Registered 2CV with a lovely charm about it. If you are after a pristine example this is not the car for you! If however, you fancy a car with patina that tells a story, has a lived in look and is super solid beneath the surface, then read on.
This 2CV has previously been enthusiast owned and had a fair share of cash thrown at it over the past 6 years. That includes the following:
Body
-Seatbelt mounts cut out and replaced with new metal ; no patched over stuff, all done the right way by 2CV specialist Richard Dalton ; a few receipts are under his name.
-Solid floorpans
-Factory and super solid chassis; I am quite frankly staggered at the condition of the chassis
-New French made roof
-60/55W P45t Conversion headlight bulbs fitted ; this makes a great difference to night time driving!
Drivetrain
-4 new Toyo 310 135 section tyres with 4 new rims all round
-Burton front dampers with Monroe rear dampers; it handles surprisingly nicely!
Engine:
-652cc "Big Bore" Barrel conversion done with less than 2,000 miles on the clock
-New Resin Ignition Coil with new Bougicord HT leads
-New Oil Separator/Filler
-RC40 Exhaust Back Box
I've probably left some stuff out, but I'll reply as soon as I remember.
What have I done in my ownership? Honestly? More than I thought I would, but I have enjoyed owning it
Body
-Rear corners cut out and welded up correctly
-New Front bumper
-New 50s style grille
-Pressed number plates to replace the questonably iffy old ones
-Window 'ajar' holders, giving you one more position than just having the front windows fully open or fully closed
-52mm VDO oil temperature gauge installed
Drivetrain
-New Neoprene CV boots all round with new clips and cleaned and regreased CV Joints
-New SKF rear wheel bearing with seal fitted
Engine
-New reusable rocker cover gaskets fitted
-New crushable washers installed upon head/engine reassembly
-New Cupro-nickel oil feed pipe ; this will not break like the factory mild still item
-52mm oil temperature sensor installed in lieu of the sump plug (plug will be provided in the sale
-123 Ignition Bluetooth distributor fitted. This gives you a fully mappable ignition curve, a dashboard via your phone giving you RPM, GPS speed, voltage, dizzy temp, total ignition advance and vacuum. You also have an immobilser feature with this, meaning that even simple ways of getting a car running without the key won't work here . It's made a pleasant difference to the starting and running of the car too!
-New 'SigraFlex' manifold gaskets.
-New engine mounts; This made a lovely surprise to the drive of the car!
-New Spark Plugs & Air filter; Well a service with the oil as well!
-New oil pressure sensor
-New engine mounts
This car also has the paperwork to back up thr work .
So, does this car have issues? Well, yes, but not many!
These include:
-It ideally wants a new boot floor, You could patch what is there but I think it would be best just to change it out. I have been quoted £350 to have a new rear boot floor installed and that's about the only really iffy par of the car; it will still pass an MOT with this however.
-Interior could be tidier. It's not in bad condition at all for a car of this age, and many would be tempted to leave it. But I'm merely mentioning it. It has good carpets inside and a set of the factory rubber mats too, so it's pleasant inside anyway.
This car will come a few spares including:
-An engine sans a barrel
-Flywheel
-Clutch
-Sump Plug
-Gearbox
-Other odd bits and pieces (seat rubber bands etc.)

I'm looking for around £3,300 as it is, and it will be a great classic for someone to enjoy and run continuously. I used this almost non-stop over the summer and lapped up the surprising comfort. Will I miss it? Probably, but then someone else can enjoy this .
