The 'P10' estate is a proper oddity. It's actually a Japanese built W10 Avenir cargo with some altered trim. The suspension, driveshafts etc... are the same as a Bluebird rather than the Primera.
P10 GT is probably the pick with the "red top" high port 150bhp version of the SR20DE. The P10 is also about 150kg lighter than the P11, partly because it has independent rear suspension instead of a rear beam, but the shell of the P11 is generally meatier as well.
I was the ‘on site’ mechanic for Ryder who, for many years, provided the transportation of parts into the Nissan plant at Sunderland. An artic went into the plant every 25 mins, 24 hrs a day, to drip feed the parts for the ‘just in time’ car build system. When the Primera model changed to its newer shape, all hell broke loose. Within 4 hrs on the Monday morning the sh1t was hitting the fan, the line stopped, no parts, wrong parts, etc etc We had helicopters taking parts from our hub near j28 M1, every company car was enlisted, dozen & dozens of taxis all taking whatever they could up to the plant. It took around a week or so to sort it out properly, with the line starting & stopping. At the time they rekon it cost £16k a minute for each minute the line was down
I work with a guy who is running a Nissan primera GT as his everyday car has full black leather interior, will try and get some pictures of it, another once common car, that has vanished from the face of the earth is the Renault 16,here a photo from jader1973
I took a pic of that because in March 1975 my Dad bought a brand new 16TS for the grand total of 2101.75 pounds. He traded in his 12TL that he'd bought new in July 1972 at a cost of 1125.73 pounds and he got 800.77 for it as a trade in. I'm not sure there are any 12s left either!
Ye gods, only yesterday did I see a R12, not sure you could really say there was anything left of it though
On a more related to OP note, the last time I saw a Primera was probably about October of last year, being towed behind the recovery truck of a local scrapyard!
Past couple of days i've been fortunate enough to see the same Primera SRi 2 days running, looked pretty mint like this one:
My Holy Grail of Primeras right there ^^ P10 Sri in Cobalt Blue....I guess you don't know if it's for sale or not, or might possibly be?
It appeared to be pretty mint with some soft line 5 spoke alloys and driven by an older gent. I will have a hunt around for where it lives as I have a hunch I've spotted it before. Can see why you'd want it, lovely colour and the red SRi decal stands out beautifully. Odd thing to say really but i was just a bit taken aback at how nice the badge looked. Or the fact it looks like a bloke bent over double on his knees with his head on his hands
