Just got back from a few days in the Lakes with my misses and folks. I've been to the Lakeland Motor Museum a few times before but, this time we took my folks who absolutely loved it, especially the memorabilia stuff. If you've never been its a great visit while in the lakes. My person favourite is the Trabant, used to be the Spitfire and weirdly the Metro! Does anyone know any information on the Cars in this museum? There seems little info on where some of the cars came from. Also, when i asked about this, they said some of them are donated and they take donated Cars on a 2 year loan. This gave me an idea that if i got board with my Escort i could donate it to a museum for a while while i live in London and have other Classic (free storage?) has anyone ever done this?? Heres a few pictures: The Cortina was donated by a lady whos husband passed away. really nice example . Not sure if these are re productions but who wouldnt love one! My personal fave Never noticed this before! i wonder whos car this was? My Dads fave. Even trolly jacks get a look in. you can see why this didnt take off! This spitfire is lovely. Glad we own one know so i don't have to lust for this one! This MGA was great. The museum has a photo next to the car of it in action in the 60s.

Looks like a cool little place. I was gonna covet the Fizzy but got beaten to it. Is that an Amphicar? Fan-powered trike looks... errrm, mad

Haven't they got the only road-going TVR Speed 12 ever made in their collection?

This place is about 20 mins drive from my home. They have classic car meets there . Think it’s first Saturday of every month.

He once rode it about 30 miles down A roads to a local classic car night - quite impressive when you consider that he's only got one leg!

The pedals didn’t start them, they have a conventional kick start on the right hand side. The pedals are just to ‘get around’ the law, to effectively have it in the moped category, therefore allowing 16 yr olds to ride it.

No both pedals face forward (as the one you can see) so the one on the other side looks the same. To engage them, you had to stop the bike & then pull that small lever you can see on top of the engine casing. They could not be used when the engine was running

That sounds most strange. He must have been pedalling it out as a joke then, I just assumed he was starting it!
It sold for (what I thought) was a crazy amount of money not long after he finished it. Some of the prices on 50-125 2 stroke stuff seem completely bonkers to me - maybe I just "don't get it" as I've always been a 4 stroke rider.

Haven't they got the only road-going TVR Speed 12 ever made in their collection? Not been for a couple of years but they used to - IIRC it was pretty much the last car on the 'tour' so it was right next to the door as the owner liked to take it for a drive now & then ...

Great little museum. Last time I was there, there was a TVR Speed 12. The Lakes Tour was also dropping in when I was there last so there was some lovely modified classic Fords in the car park!
