Just wondering if anyone else on here was a keen boater? As we live a few miles from the Norfolk broads we try to enjoy the area as often as we can on our 1972 Seamaster 27. It’s retro hence why I thought a few here might like to see it but by default I’m afraid. If I could afford a new boat I would have one in a shot! That said the Seamaster is beautifuly built and a real classic, something some of the 80-90’s boats often aren’t. She is running a Perkins Diesel which gets us about at river speeds (6mph) with minimal fuss or cost, even a seven year old can be trusted at those speeds! (As long as he’s at arms reach) I wouldn’t say I enjoy it in the same way as the cars but the family love it, something the isn’t true of my cars! Sadly. This makes it worth every penny, I still get to polish, tinker and improve at the same time as have a weekend out. Win win!

Lovely boat. The broads are a great place to visit.
One thing I want is a house near the river Avon so I can get a small boat to enjoy.

Hi I too have a sea master 27! I started with a dawncraft 22 20 years ago.then had a Freeman 23 and have had my Sea master for 3 years. It's called Lady Alison after my wife.I bought it when we had been married 25 years, it's got a bmc 1800. Jobs so far have been new upholstery, new canopy, new boiler, shower and cooker and lots of polishing outside. It was a wreck. I managed to get the gelcoat back and I also replaced the rubbing strakes. Outside she looks good but I still have a lot of reveneering inside. I am not good at uploading pics but delighted to see a fellow car but with the same boat! I have to say she doesn't like sailing in a straight line. The Freeman was better built inside but the hull is Better on this. Cheers jed

Just noticed you have an outdrive.makes a massive difference. It's a great life for kids. My girls have grown up with boats and both done great in life. It gets em away from the games station and see the wildlife. If you need any advice or help give us a shout cheers

Are you a member of the Seamaster Club? There isnt much they don’t know and are more than happy to help. Yes the Enfield outdrive and Perkins are original and I must say it tracks very straight and due to the heavy hull construction they don’t seem too affected by a side wind. I have huge respect for you carrying out major repairs, ours is in the condition we bought it in (we are only the third owners) I had her out of the water before Xmas for antifoul and outdrive service plus I gave the hull a compound polish . This was more than enough for me to take on. If I’m honest she is only just big enough for us, our kids are now 10 and 8 plus I’m 6’1” so can only stand up straight if I take my shoes off! Plus I would love a shower, that said there are enough moorings with facilities to get by. She is a truly charming boat though and every potential upgrade we’ve looked at has just not felt right, bigger yes, newer yes but just missing something

Bookmarked The only real time I've spent on a boat was on the Norfolk broads with the family many years ago, but I'm working in Devon for the next few months so now is a good time to find out more

I do like a nice looking boat, unfortunately I only like water if it also contains bubbles and a rubber duck!

Hi it's a lovely boat. My shower is tiny and I have to duck! That front cabin is great as you can escape from the kids. I think any cruiser would be short on headroom and I have been on a few , might be a narrow for you next haha

Hi it's a lovely boat. My shower is tiny and I have to duck! That front cabin is great as you can escape from the kids. I think any cruiser would be short on headroom and I have been on a few , might be a narrow for you next haha The ones we have viewed have been Princess 30s, and only a few feet longer but much wider and taller. The biggest problem I have with these is that they usually have twin 6cyl engines, with running costs to suit! All of a sudden you have a boat that uses a gallon of fuel an hour and if one lump goes bang it’s several thousands plus industrial kit to swap one out. It’s a bit like the old Bentley for new Fiesta money option. Yes you can buy one easy enough but the running costs are a different story. One I can’t afford!!

Not on the same scale as yourself but we used to have a small rib and outboard Great bit of kit We used to put it and all its bits and bobs in the back or our discovery hook up the caravan And go away for a long weekend or week Just find a caravan site that was near or next to one of the many inland waterways in England I could have it assembled and in the water in 30mins and off we go for the day We sold it and the caravan with the idea of buying a camper and a bigger boat We have the camper all be it in mid restoration so hopefully once it's done I can start looking at boats again I wanted something around the 20/30 foot size but it has to have inboard motor and be sea worthy so we have more options

These are my "boats".... IMG-20181201-WA0004 by Renee Blote, on Flickr I love boats, I like to be on them, like to drive them. I have even my boat licence but I have no desire to own one. However I really like my own "boats". The red 12f is my wife's jetski. I own the silver 15f. Get up to about 70 miles per hour. Fast enough. Good fun and easy to keep and maintain

I live on the coast and come from a fishing family so I've always been around boats. Some of the ones I've been involved with, The Phantom below was mine for a while, it had a 85 Mariner with a period Mercury case installed on it and went like a scalded cat. I sold it on as I wasn't using it enough. It was great feeling like 007 for a while though! (or the Milk Tray man) My fathers old trawler, a great looking boat and really a work of art considering the skill involved with building these boats. It originally had a 6LXB Gardner but a Caterpillar was later installed wehn the Gardner was thrashed to death.
A couple of my old work boats, plenty power! 2x 360bhp Iveco Afios in the Venturer.
Twin Yamaha 240bhp Yamahas in the Delta, basically Toyota Landcruiser lumps.
And an old pic I like, just 'cos.
