Yes i have registered with the forum to try sell my car. I used to be on some forums back in the early 2000's but grew bored of the b.s, and dropped off all of them.. I was aware of the R*R scene and did want to come to some shows, still not made it yet .
For sale is my Honda Accord Aerodeck 2.2i auto. This car has been mine since 2005, it has been a truly fantastic car. CAR HAS BEEN OFF THE ROAD FOR 2.5 YEARS!, it does run and drives... but has no mot. IT DOES REQUIRE REPAIR WORK FOR MOT.. This car has a idling issue that may be a quick fix or may require the spare engine and gearbox fitting to resolve it. So will need to be trailered away, you will also need a good size van for all the spares it comes with.... (almost a full cars worth excluding body shell).
Still reading?, good i'll begin:
First off the running issue.. it starts and runs EVERYTIME. But sometimes the idle speed is erratic 1100 - 1600 rpm (should be around 750). This is bizarre as i have had it running and idling perfectly, as i have recommissioned it to go back on the road this year (2018). The idle speed issue started after i had flushed out the old coolant and added new antifreeze / water mix. This was at the end of nearly 10 months of work doing rust repairs, mechanical repairs, servicing. After doing each bit of servicing work car was started and ran fine / idled fine. Final job change coolant, now won't idle..
OK that's it now, had enough i surrender.... Had to buy another car, my friends generosity of borrowing their cars only extends so far.
Deep breath!, right history of the car:
I bought this back in 2005 about 20 miles from me, from a private seller on Ebay. I drove it home, serviced it and used it as my daily for about a year and a half. It then came off the road while i upgraded the suspension bushings. Almost all bushes are now poly bushed a combination of Energy Suspension USA and one of the UK polybush manufacturers parts.. The car was off the road for about a year during this as i had both front and rear suspension components removed. (I remember removing the entire rear subframe assembly). Then it was back on the road again back to being my only drive-able car. It stayed on the road until 2016.
Then i decided the rust that had been lurking for years in the rear arches and under the fuel flap area needed to be addressed once and for all. I had done enough rust repairs over the years to know this was'nt going to be a few weeks of evenings and weekends work. So i did what any sensible petrol head does, buy another car. This was a another Honda Accord same year different colour, same engine. Hence the huge amount of spares....
Anyway i digress. So after starting the rust repair work (literally just grinding off the paint and filler and rust) and seeing just how much needed to be done, i painted the bare steel bits and left it until i could get in the garage (yes this was in 2016, stop your sniggering down the back). Fast foward to 2018 finally got the car in the garage, let the games begin.. Cue lots of evenings and weekends, about 3-4 months worth. Rust work completed. Yes i removed all the rust, yes it has fresh clean metal welded in, and yes i have photo's of all it..
Also remade the rear bumper support bracket / rear crash bar assembly. So that's all new metal as well. Yes again i have photo's of this.

. Now fire it up. Splash of fuel in tank and yep it runs, yippee.
Right now for a full service / maintenance overhaul. So cam belt and balance shaft belt has been changed, obviously oil and filter changed as well. New front discs and pads, rear brake calipers / pads and discs were swapped on from the coupe. These were rebuilt calipers and new discs / pads put on soon after buying the coop in 2016, so have done maybe 5000 miles.. Distributor has done approx 5000 miles as yep yet again it was swapped from the estate to the coop and then back again!. Air filter / fuel filter both changed. Rear brake lines (hard lines ) remade as one decided to burst when i went to put it in gear. Fuel lines have been swapped for ones from the coop as they were in much better condition. This required new clips from Honda to hold brake / fuel lines ( i think 8 clips @ £8.50 ish each).
I have receipts for all the above parts and a whole lot more, as you would imagine for a car owned for this long. The folder of history / receipts is literally an inch thick...
Ok thats a brief history now the important stuff. The milage the car has covered is approximately 210,000 miles. Yes on the original engine and box (as far as i am aware). The spare engine and box has done 116,000. The milage shown on the clocks is not correct, the clocks were replaced by me as the speedo stopped working.
The paint work on the car is not great, that's to say the lacquer is not great and has the 90's Japanese curse of falling off in patch's. The rear quarters have been painted by me with aerosol cans and the colour is just the wrong shade to original (there's two shades i got the wrong one). It did'nt bother me that much as i intended to repaint all the body to deal with the lacquer issue, just wanted it weather proof and good for now... There are some small dents around the car mainly parking dings, as well as scuffs on the bumpers.
The interior is reasonable no it's not concours condition, it's been used. Carpet could do with changing (have a spare carpet), there is a tear in the boot floor cover. Boot cover pull out thing is with the car and was fine when last used.
Other parts i can think i have changed over the years are : Front wheel bearings (both), rear wheel bearings (both), water pump done at cam belt change before this one so approx 5000 miles ago, speedo sensor on gearbox, abs pump for one from coop, power steering reservoir (from coop) and power steering coolant pipe (the one that runs in front of the radiator) this i made as it is not available.. steering rack ends (both) front ball joints (all of them) top and bottom, fresh power steering fluid (the stuff meant for Honda's not normal ATF), both centre and rear box of the exhaust ( have another brand new centre section).
As mentioned i have an almost cars worth of spares from stripping the coop, so spare engine / gearbox , bonnet , front wings, full wiring loom, both airbags, seats door panels, subframes, suspension, standard wheels etc etc..
More photo's are available, can't really get it outside easily to take better side pictures as i have a driveway full of broken vehicles, several off which are in the way . If you are seriously interested and want a specific picture or group of pictures let me know and i will sort it out.
Please bear with me on replies as i am not sat at a desk all day and normally only on a computer at night. Emails i get to my phone, so hopefully this forum tells you if someone responds to your post?. I'll try and check in nightly...
