Fiat Coupe 1997 2.0 20V non turbo Portofino blue 135,000 miles MOT until July 2019.
I bought this car off a mechanic I know because I needed a run around whilst I was looking for a more permanent car, I liked it so much that I bought a turbo version! (Thread to follow) so now it's time for me to pass this great little car to someone else.
It's what I would describe as an honest rolling project which you could improve over time or just run it as it is. It does have a few little issues but nothing that a couple of weekends work wouldn't fix, normally I hate it when people say this when they are selling a car as I think "why don't you just sort it then?" well, the honest truth is I don't want to spend anymore money on this car, I need the money for my 78 Cressdia.
Having said that this car is overall in good condition. The paint is nice and it drives and sounds amazing with the signature 5 cylinder warble. It has 135,000 miles on it but has been maintained well by the previous owner who is a mechanic. He changed the cam belt water pump and aux belts in 2016 I don't have any proof of it but I have no reason to doubt him. A specialist will charge £350 to do this job if you want to have it done for peace of mind.
If I were to keep it the bits that will need attention are as follows:
Thermostat - I'm pretty sure this has just failed this week fortunately they fail open and it is a common problem with the coupe so there is plenty of knowledge out there on how to replace them. The engine takes a while to warm up as a consequence, so it's something I would do first as a new owner.
wheel arches - have the usual bits of surface rust on the inner edge, it is minimal and could be easily sorted.
Clutch - The bite is near the bottom of the pedal, I have been driving it fine but it's something to consider.
Other than the bits I have mentioned it is a lovely machine and a future/modern classic for very little money.
I'm putting it on for what I paid for it and I think it's worth every penny. I doubt you will lose money on it if you decided to sell it on.
Having said that please come and have a look at it and I'm open to offers as I could do with the space back on the drive for my wife's car!
