Can someone enlighten me on the differences between the longitudinal and transverse PD engine flavours?
Can I buy a passat pd 130 engine ( as they are cheaper and more plentiful locally to me it seems) and easily convert it into transverse usage? Or not worth the hassle and more complex than a few bolt on bits?
Cheers

Really depends on what it's going into. They are a little harder to adapt wiring from a Passat or A4 than a Golf etc. Sump and oil pickup is different, turbo and downpipe placement different, inlet manifold etc. I've done some TDI conversions and I also know the B5 chassis well.

Sorry if this isn't allowed but I have a pd130 from a Passat that is no use to me anymore. Bought it to go into my old Passat that had a chocolate camshaft but ended up scrapping the car. Feel free to PM if you decide a Passat lump will fit your plans.

Thanks guys. Basically is the block the same and have all the holes for bolting mounts etc to for transverse? For a Lupo TDI conversion btw.
Thanks for the offer deanh, best bet is gumtree or on the ads here as huddersfield to far from me.

Ah no worries. Haven't even taken a photograph of it yet but it'll be going on gumtree etc. I've got too many things to get rid of!
