Will be there too, undecided yet as to whether I want to volunteer the Celica as a 'restoration in progress' display vehicle on the Toyota Club stand. If I do, there will be an open invitation for all RR's to come and bend some metal in order to make the stand as 'interactive' as possible

Will be there with the SIMCA and MATRA club stands. It might even see my SIMCA 1200S coupe I ran up the hill at RRG18 in its finished state. We have a few other rarely seen SIMCAS line up too.

I suppose putting all the trim/interior back on the coupe after its paint job will fit in with the work going on on club stands the organisers look for.

Mick - Very much so however from a visual prospective it's difficult for the public to physically see what's happening has it all on the inside of the car non the less it's restoration at a 'restoration show' and far better than what some of the pathetic restoration display attempts by some of the clubs - cue a starter motor on a workmate that they replace the brushes on twice over the weekend 'yawn'

Latest show update from the organisers has just landed in my inbox www.necrestorationshow.com/Video feed features a very brief glimpse of the Jowett Jupiter that I exhibited on the barn finds stand at the 2018 show along with several shots of the work undertaken on the club stand - certainly generates more interest for our little club than most of the other shows combined

Email landed in mine too - with a nice pic included of said Jupiter Out of interest do you know what the guidelines are as to what can and can't be done on the stands? I'd imagine access to power is tricky and welding and spraying are probably not encouraged! Just trying to weigh up what I might be able to get away with and what I'd need to have ready beforehand

Just trying to weigh up what I might be able to get away with and what I'd need to have ready beforehand Sam - spraying is out of the question - welding isn't though but you need the right kit - I undertook welded fabricated repairs to a Javelin last year - but you need a welding tent & screen (£250 ish) - worse still you need a 3Kw power supply which you have to pay for (£500) fortunately we had sponsor that funded the power supply so welding is probably out for you too. From experience over staging a stand for the last 5 shows: What restoration work you undertake on the stand needs to be visual to the public - its pointless rummaging around within the interior or laid on your back under the car for the entire show where they cannot see or vision what you are doing - the noisier the better so panel beating / fabricating / making up repair sections brings the crowds flocking to your stand - they all want to see what's happening - panel removal / refitting - drive train removal / refitting works too - so for example if you removed the engine & box then cleaned up the engine bay and prepped it for painting (then refitted it loosely for logistical reasons on the Sunday afternoon) would work has it's a highly visual process and the engine out / in bit will attract the public to the stand - has will someone stood in the engine bay prepping the inner wings / chassis legs / bulkhead etc Let me know if you need further info / help - Chris

I've a few jobs in mind that would be easy enough to do. As you've said, the intention is to make it as interactive and interesting as possible, but at the same time I would also like to make the logistical exercise of getting the car there etc. worthwhile personally. Especially as there would a few folk who I'd appreciate input from

SIMCA Club UK stand confirmed... Hall 5 (Stand 5-662) next to the MATRA Club as we always are... most MATRAs use the parts from SIMCA & Talbots.
