Yeah, but I thought the object of the post was to identify where the model name of the car was/is it's engine size. Meh! There was a point to the post  If there was, it's to picture a bloke down the pub saying "Yes, I've just brought the old ..... out for a spin" and knowing what he means. Good call on the 1275GT and the 6.9  exactly, and if someone said they were taking their '1993' around the block everyone would instantly know it was a capri, sameway as everyone talks about my dads 2994...... aka reliant scimitar.  |

Almost all Bimmers. Although thats a bit cheating cos theres another number there. 740  But a lot of ferraris are purely the engine size, such as 250  412  302  260  280  280  |

740 except that uses a 4.4 litre engine many bmws have numbers that people assume to identify engine size, but BMW in there infinite wisdom make the capacity vary wildly. e46 320i from about 2000 is actually 2.2, and they made 2 cars (316i and 318i) with exactly the same 1.9 engine. 323i is 2.5 (e36 model) and waaay back in 1980 the 316 was 1800cc. thats just the start of it. BMW=conjurers and confusers, or just on drugs.... |

Err, 250 (GTO) refers to the size of each cylinder, so it's a 3 litre!

Err, 250 (GTO) refers to the size of each cylinder, so it's a 3 litre! Oh silly me. I thought the size of the cylinders was proportional to the size of the engine. 250x12. But that was me being stupid and thinking that cylinders had anything to do with engines  like the 412 I posted below it... Thats the engine size - 412 x 12. How is that not the engine size? Anyways Boidieanddoyle yeah you got me. I knew there was some stupidity going on but for some reason I had it in my head that one was right ;D 308 (3.0 8 cylinder)  |

;D As Garethj pointed out it is indeed a 2.4, 80 brake straight six. Named the Blue Streak Six. Another one of those Australian BMC adaptations.
