I sought out a gearbox builder who would vapour blast the 3 casings of the Getrag 265 that underwent a total rebuild with them. Having failed to heed the warning signs with this company , I finally got it back back after 10 weeks to find they didn't bother to do this, so now need to paint the gearbox myself.
The ally cases have been in a parts washer, so at least free of oil contamination, but will probably have oily finger prints all over them.
Can anyone recommend a process and what paints to use on this to make it last ? I've seen a few people use VHT temp silver paint with a clear coat which does at least look good when done, but wondering how long rattle can paints will hold up. Anyway, any thoughts welocme.
Thanks
