Hello,
I have an Austin A30 that is in the process of becoming a hill-climb / trackday car. There is a 1380cc 16 valve Aseries going in it. I was originally going to fit MG Midget brakes, but these seem to have been lost when the car was in storage. This got me pondering other options regarding certainly the front brakes. I tried on a (I think)1995 VW Passat disc over the original hub. 260mm vented disc, which looks like it will fit with a small amount machined on the inner hole. Need to sort out a caliper mount, to suit. I think a sliding single pot caliper looks like the way forward. Has anyone any thoughts on doing this to a classic car, originally fitted with drum brakes. The adaptor could bolt to the original upright (4 bolts used to hold the drum back-plate before. What material (was thinking of 6mm thick steel to start with)? Has anyone done this already? I will try & start a build thread if I can suss out how to upload some photos.
