I've been thinking for a long time that we really need a muscle car thread, or maybe it's just me that needs a muscle car thread. Anyway, I'm gonna lead off with pictures of my own 1980 Trans Am, and see where it takes us.
I have nothing to add, apart from I'm really pleased and a bit upset that those "moose antler" tail pipes seem to have vanished. A bit like a mullet hair cut; I wouldn't want one, but I like it when other people are confident enough to rock one.
I'm guessing they are supposed to be tucked up behind the wheel arches?

I cant beleive that with a name like generallee you've nothing to add! Yeah, those tail pipes needed to go, they were like wheel barrow handles or something. As you say, they're supposed to be tucked up behind the arches, like on my previous Firebird...
Man alive that thing was cool, without a doubt one of my favourite cars I've ever had!
To my mind muscle cars are an almost uniquely American phenomena, though there are a few Australian cars that qualify. There seems to be a tendency in certain sections of the media to label anything with a V8, or even any slightly lairy sporty coupe or saloon as a muscle car but that doesn't wash with me. Oh, and Corvettes aren't Muscle cars either (IMO) they're sports cars, a different ball- game all together. (light blue touch paper and retire to a safe distance)

I don't really want to start a debate over what is, and what is not a muscle car, but I think you've pretty much got it ratchart . In my opinion a muscle car is a coupe/fastack with a v8 up front, two doors on the side, and four (maybe five or even six!) seats inside. A Corvette, as cool as they are is not a muscle car, it only has two seats.
My Mercedes 500 SEC, despite it being exactly the same on paper as the Trans Am, a coupe with a 5.0litre v8 up front, two doors on the side, and four seats inside, but for some reason is not a muscle car. Also...
My Mustang... It's not a muscle car either really, despite it's muscle car looks it's only got a V6!
But like I said, I don't want to start a debate, I just want to see a few pictures of muscle cars!
