Found a couple of old Ferguson Tv/HiFi speakers near me.... I guess the reason they were outside is they don't work... i thought id have a go though before they went to the tip.
I'm terrible with electronics so i went straight to a local audio shop specialising in old stuff. They put a new fuse in the plug to speaker one and the light on the front lit up!!!! I got it back home and it didnt light up again :/ Speaker 2 didnt have a plug on it so heres what i've done so far:
- I went out and bought a load more 13Amp fuses for the plugs and put a plug on the other speaker... No light on the front and no signs of humming or audio noise.
- I took the backs off both speakers hoping to see wires off or a burst or black capacitor joint. Cant see anything except some audio wires off one speaker inside. They have Din connectors on so i think someone was trying to by pass this.
- As the audio cable has 4 wires... my logic was to solder 4 wires to the audio connectors and use a 3.5 conector (with two wires ) from my phone to touch to these new wires to see if i can get any audio signal....
of course ive got nothing.... I don't think they're powering up as i cant hear any humming still.
Any ideas?
