Z32 Nissan 300ZX?
My other thought was a C4 Chevrolet Corvette, but I don't know what the availability and pricing is like for those in the UK. They're all over the place for the equivalent of £5k here.

Hi sorry its about E46 and it's phoenix yellow. Have you got a link to it? Domino’s may have been a bargain or a dog but IME, almost every sub £7k E46 M3 I’ve seen has been a dog. They cannot be maintained on on a shoestring either. A bad one will certainly cost more to run than a nice one and less you with less money. Don’t believe me? Read my thread or form more info, my blog. when I looked to buy one when they were cheaper (2 years ago) and it was the same story then. I too thought £5k would get me something high on the miles, but nice. I’ve spent on average £2-3k a year running mine bar fuel and @lewis78 on here felt that was more reasonable than he thought. I know this is RR and people will be saying no bad vibes but there is is nothing pleasant about going into w car that is pricey to run without the knowledge 👍. pauly22 can confirm the above! They’re a great car but man they’re not cheap to run. Not terrible but they can’t be run for close to Mondeo running costs.

I'm after a weekend toy hot hatch rag top open to suggestions? I might have a 3 door Golf Mk2 with a 2.0 bottom end on ITBs in Oak Green coming on the market soon, but it'll be nearer to £6k than £5k. PM me if you're interested.

Hi there the bmw does have bodywork issue's but has full bmw service history from new. It's not wanted for anything. But in my honest opinion it will need 2 front wings which he has just ordered and is now getting treated to a full respray too. He isn't, selling because he 1. Stood on dog pool. Then seen 2 magpies. And sold his house for a large profit to a house builder who was very desperate to buy so. The m3 will be getting a good treat. I do agree with you regarding money. My e34 m5 loves money.

You can buy my DC2 Integra, it’s perfectly in budget! Easy to maintain, fast, fun, just about retro and they’re all but guaranteed to increase in value in 3 years time when they can be imported to the USA

Firebird, 280S and a Jowett - fantastic eclectic choices and I never imagined any of them would be in budget! My guilty craving is an XK8 (I do lots of motorway miles) - must be at rock bottom prices now? Here’s one (NTDWM)

I've just bought an SLK 350 for under 5k and it is very nice with lots of toys and they all work! A bit more grown up than our MX5s and more a grand tourer than chuckable sports car.....but still goes when needed.

Do people really spend this much money on such boring cars? There’s only been one or two suggestions I’d find interesting, if not to my taste. £5k still buys a lot of you stay off eBay.
There’s American v8 pickups and sedans around for that money, ‘proper’ tempremental sportcars like tvrs and maseratis etc. a Datsun 240z can be picked up in that price range still. Hell I even bought a rust free 66 Lincoln Continental for less than that a month or two back.

It been proven many times that eBay is one of the most expensive places to buy a car. Marketplace on Facebook, gumtree and forums seems to be the place to buy at real prices from real people. There are so many wannabe dealers around now its not true!

As mentioned above, Facebook marketplace is possibly the best place these days, but also the specific groups like American pickup trucks in uk, American cars uk, Datsun owners club, uk hotrods and customs for sale, etc. There the ones that throw up the best bargains, both parts and cars.

It been proven many times that eBay is one of the most expensive places to buy a car. Marketplace on Facebook, gumtree and forums seems to be the place to buy at real prices from real people. There are so many wannabe dealers around now its not true! Yep, very true... however there is a way to use ebay to buy a car at a decent price, and its how I've bought three of my last four cars. Wont work for everything of course... I watch the cars I like the look of. I don't bid though, I just let them run. If they get re-listed I get notified and I watch it again. if that happens for a third time I make an enquiry with the seller, which basically says I am very interested but not bidding because I suspect the seller is looking for more money than I have available. I then say that if they get tired of re-listing it and getting messed about by ebay idiots and they decide they just want a no-fuss sale for cash with no haggling or tire kicking just to get shot of the car, then I'd be able to offer them something and they could consider it and it would be a sold-as-seen no haggling, no come backs exchange of cash for the car. I then wait for them to come back to me to pick me up on that idea, and I tell them what I can afford to give them as cash. I've done this four times and got three vehicles at a price that I felt was right/good and not what the seller expected to get for it. I had one bloke near me selling a Scimitar and it was relisted about 6 times and never hit the reserve. We had some dialogue over email where he was convinced he would get £8k for it. It was an absolute heap. I'd driven over and had a look at it. So I said I wasn't looking to spend anything like that and wished him well. Over many weeks he kept getting back in touch... £6k?...£5k?....£4k? until eventually he said if I could drag it off his drive he'd take £500 cash because he needed it gone. Daft sod. He did sell it eventually though, and for more than £500 as far as I could tell. But the point is people selling on ebay have a price in mind that they'd like and they set out with firm convictions. If they don't get that price though, they get demoralised and eventually reach a point where they just want it gone. At that point, they'll be more realistic about having some cash in hand and no blowbacks. This probably only works for the kind of cheap-ass old clunkers I tend to buy though. It's probably not ever going to bag an Aston martin for £12.

I have to agree with Dez. And if you are prepared to do the dirty work yourself....... Interesting, beautiful, certainly different. There is a lot out there in the USA Look on various sites, including Craigslist and if you ask, again the Americans will probably help you interpret and also read the geography. Reach out to our American members for help, advice etc. I really liked, and still like this car, A LOT !!! Today’s exchange rate price £2674.00 Landed on your drive possible for under £5000.00 which would leave room for spares or baggage in the car and trunk, plus the glass that is claimed to be cloudy or broken, side glass is all flat, so super cheap. Not my taste, but perfectly functional and funky. Easy fix.
