Twirly metal garage signs. I was fascinated by these as a kid. They still make modern plastic ones, but they're a rare sight now. Often outside MoT garages with MOT on one side and TYRES on the other, that sort of thing. Concrete lamp posts with sodium lights are practically extinct now too.

these ugly monsters gasometres used to cut into the skyline of most big citys, Bath had three, but only one remains (if its still there). as a kid walking pass the gas works was not nice it stank of eggy gas. There's still plenty of those by where I work.

The internet. I've no idea where it is. I was specifically looking for a slightly different design in green, but that one does to illustrate the point.

Concrete columns are being replace in bulk as they cannot be checked for integrity the same way steel columns can. Cheaper and safer to replace in bulk. I've seen them snap under minimal contact from a poorly driven vehicle. Steel columns bend and have built in tolerance to hits!!!

Concrete lamp posts with sodium lights are practically extinct now too. Still quite a few in redditch/studley my last company, we would cut the top off and fit a led head to them, all the old style lampposts are going,

Even telegraph poles for the phone lines are disappearing quickly now they are all going under the ground. Especially with a pair of old plimsolls tied together hanging off the cable

Out for a nice B-road blast in the MX5, and found this in one of the local outlying villages - a phone box, and this one still has a phone in it! No idea if it works though.

I've seen them snap under minimal contact from a poorly driven vehicle. Steel columns bend and have built in tolerance to hits!!! Many years ago I reversed a van into a concrete lamppost at very low speed. I got out to see if the van was damaged and the lamppost had completely collapsed, nothing but a pile of rubble left! I was pretty shocked (and embarrassed)

Once a daily site in every street on my estate as a kid in the 90’s. I still live on the same estate now although in my own house and never see kids out anymore.

If you tried to play kerbie or anything in the street I used to play in as a kid you'd probably be dead in 10 minutes with the amount of parked cars and traffic. I'm only 33 as well so not all that long ago.
