A thinking-out-of-the-box version of this idea might be to lift a Mk1 Polo Breadvan by a couple of inches edit Added another van based on the more-door. cuter than a transit connect The original title was certainly not meant to restrict this conversation to only HR-V Hondas but rather any other Dull as Dishwater creations. Maybe even the Berlingo called Prozac as they are generally seen as “pope mobiles” or pensioner specials. There have been a few interesting Polo bread and over the years. I hope the guys post up more from other brands to inspire. Back to the HR-V though, saw a new registered one yesterday, but same. And not seen one on the road since starting this thread. Weird ehhh?

UNBELIEVABLE !!!
I saw a black two door HR-V on the way home today from the shops.
Since beginning this thread, I have not seen even one of these in the flesh.
What struck me, was that it is smaller than I recall, certainly against its larger CR-V brother.
Used Prozac, and again realised its a great little car.

This was for sale locally for around £550 a few months ago, it sold but is still quite local. I have no shame in saying I very much like it.

I owned a 3dr H-RV for the last 2 years right up until a couple of weeks ago, admittedly I only drove it for the first month of ownership, the rest was spent parked in the front garden. I bought it with the sole intention of getting it properly low as I'd seen loads of C-RVs done low but never an H-RV. I stopped driving it because in standard form it was horrid to drive, overly light everything and just not terribly nice. It is indeed Logo based but with additional pieces added to move all the suspension mounting points down which means that the structure hits the floor with 3" of sill gap. Ideally it could do with a body drop to get the ride height right, there's enough head height in the engine bay to body drop it 3" and have decent clearance between head and bonnet. The arches are low in the side panels so some rebaixados style arch choppery would need doing too. The shell is such a good small hatchback shape that having it sat on the floor would utterly transform it.....
(but I bought my Jaaag back so it had to go)

What about this JDM only beauty? I give you the Honda Today of 1989. Like a Twingo met a FIAT Strada in a bar... Never seen one before - surely a forerunner to the HRV?

Love the Today, Hondas dramatic return to the Kei car market after stopping Life & Z360 production to satisfy global demand for Civic 4-door & Accord in '76. As the today was a 550cc kei car, you probably need to see it's big brother, the 2nd gen City.. That was replaced by the bland & boxy tallboy Honda Logo

This option has resurfaced again.
Looking at a few of them, and their MOT history it seems rust is an enemy and then just generally laziness and bad maintenance for the failures.
What is known about the Honda 1.6 motors and associated Automatic gearboxes?
Seen one with 88k miles, auto 1.6 for £650 that looks interesting
Thank you

I had an 02 3 door, albeit was only 3 years old when I had it, I'll agree everything is very light on them, steering crazy light tbh.
I had the 1.6 v tec and loved the engine, pottered around town nicely, but get it over 4k revs and it was electric and great back road blatter....

I test drove a new HRV back in the day, as we needed a new lease car. Felt like what is was a Honda on stilts made of jelly - which was a shame as I really wanted to like it. It was horrid, and ended up with the last of the K-series Freelanders instead. This was my opinion when I test drove one a few years ago. I wanted to like it, I quite like it's quirky looks and the interior seemed well thought out and put together (practically) if somewhat drab typically of a low end J of this era. I'm sure the one we drove was a 2.0, but could be wrong. Felt slow, wobbly and detached from the road. Even Mrs8925 didn't like it much and turned it down despite loving the 4x4 feeling. Looking at this thread I have no idea why the CRV was discounted at the time. I like the look of them.

Hi mate I just bought this Honda. Sorry a Honda like this. A 2006 Honda Odessey deluxe We bought it in Sydney and drove it up to Brisbane. Took it easy and got about 16Km out of a liter of juice. It's very spacious and has more bells and whistles than a pinball machine. All the seats down and you end up with about 180cm of loading length. Do they sell them at your side of the pool. Cheers mate and if we don't talk before hand have a great trip.

Went to look at a mint 3 door for £1k in that awesome gold colour. It was indeed mint but SO small! It was gonna be a family motor but the doors were so thin and it only had 4 seats. Not much of a family car then. Cool though. Felt sad driving away from it.
