Commonly available -40mm lowering springs only bring the car down a bit from it's stratospheric normal ride height to normal car height, not actually lowering. Gaz shocks are available in different lengths, any seller will of course recommend you buy shocks at the same time but you don't need to, depends how good the existing ones are and how low you go. There's also people who will insist you need to buy a steering spacer to go between lower arm and strut. I haven't and mine handles just fine, entirely depends on what you plan using it for. (basically re-levels the lower arm, reducing the positive camber change through suspension travel)

Yep went for coils all round, PRICY - springs and shocks were the most cost affective but I wanted to lower it to the ground, so will let you know how I get on Thursday. The mentioned that I would need a brake fairing kit any suggestions?
Also, is it possible to bolt on a turbo to a 92 240 SE estate, seen a couple of posts that you can. Its a 2.3 fuel injected?
just a thought

Commonly available -40mm lowering springs only bring the car down a bit from it's stratospheric normal ride height to normal car height, not actually lowering. Another vote for ClassicSwede. Got the 70mm lowering springs when I had my 740 saloon, sat just right and not stupidly low at all. 70mm brings it down to the height of a normal car... Still very comfy too and handled like a totally different car. The 240 next to my 740 above is on cut springs. I do think after a while the 70mm ones would have an impact on the shocks though, my rears started to sag a little when I sold it but not sure why that was. It had cut springs on beforehand (although they were cut to within an inch of their life, 2 coils left at the front!) which were shocking beyond belief. If you just cut 2/3 coils off I believe they are okay (if a tiny bit bouncy) - but getting an MOT is a bit of a weird area with cut springs. Better off just getting a whole donor turbo and doing a swap.

These no good "cheap" way unless your handy with fabrication The biggest problem is Volvos are so high std you need to remove quite a bit of spring to get them down But then the shock run out of travel The front struts I made for my 240 cost about £150 The front struts I bought from gaz for my 940 cost £550 I'm not overly impressed with the gaz build quality

That was mine many moons ago. Rmad and I cut the front springs on the car.....yeah I know. It honestly drove fine after, still took a load and towed my folding camper no problems.

Started off well. The brake pipes are a nightmare, constantly snap
Can anyone recommend any alloys? I have a set of 15 inch virgos going if anyone wants them, and a set of steels that are originals with the car

Can anyone recommend any alloys? They're hard to come by in the PCD and offset required. Either buy new, or spacers and modern volvo wheels, or adapters and whatever you want.

Been a while, but finally getting round to finish her off. I now need a set of adapters for the bbs wheels I bought. Can anyone recommend where to go? The stud pattern for the volvo are 5x108 center bore 65.1 to the bbs which is 5 x112, centre bore 70mm?

No change required to the dampers as long as there is still spare movement available on the damper rod (ie it hasn't bottomed out) when the spring is fully compressed or suspension hits the bump stop.
