We all have to face them at some point. What's next on the horizon?
Give me a wave if you pass me in the street, I'll either be in a clio 182 or a Grand Cherokee SRT8

Better fuel consumption figures than my B3 3.3 Alpina.
Fancy a swap?

Better fuel consumption figures than my B3 3.3 Alpina. Fancy a swap? All this time it has averaged 22.4 mpg, including stop start town driving, motorways, giving it the beans, etc. Can't complain really, given that it has a 400bhp V8!

Hmmmm.
Tempted, but I have a few questions.
1) Is there any history of the big ends being changed. I know they're not as bad as the V10 brethren, but they are not immune either 2) Does the VANOS come up with any fault codes on a decent code reader? I do have access to INPA which can show this. 3) Are you open to swaps?
Tempted, but it would mean that either the M3 or the W124 goes...

Can't see anything in the history for the big ends, but they are no where near as common as they are on the V10 E60 models. If they were going to go, they would have done so by now! No VANOS fault codes seen when it was last in for a service, however, you are more than welcome to bring the code reader and check this for yourself. There is no excessive noise, but most of these E39 M5's have a 'characteristic' noise on tick over. Not open to swaps I'm afraid, need to free up some space and funds. Thank you.

Putting up on eBay one final time. If it doesn't sell, I'm keeping it. Driving it over the last few days has reminded me what absolute beast of a machine this is.
Plus, I'll only regret selling it.

I was watching this on eBay and I can't believe it didn't sell. Do people just have the fear with these if they're not 100% mint and 20 grand? Looks great value to me. I'm currently attempting to liquidate my fleet to try to get an M5 or M3 later in the year but they keep breaking.

I'm currently attempting to liquidate my fleet to try to get an M5 or M3 later in the year but they keep breaking. Either that or you get p1ss take offers of £5k! This in an M5 to be used and enjoyed, not to be locked away like the £20k examples. Got a chap interested who wants to ship it over to New Zealand, he is awaiting to get confirmation of shipping quotes. This is the type of car he wants - not a minter and something that can be used and enjoyed daily, and continuously improved. To be fair though, after driving over this past week, I am not too bothered if it doesn't sell, and might just sell my 7 Series instead, as this is a lot more fun.

I've been watching them and yours is the best one I've seen under 10 grand. They're either rotten, mechanically questionable or have 250,000 miles
