Ive also sorted some wheels, YAY. they are still steelies but in 14inch flavour as opposed to the 13s this is rolling on and i think will suit banding quite nicely. They have been collected on a favour by one of the chaps i work with and he should be dropping by the office thursday next week so i should have them then. They are off a Spanish renault 8. Love those steels with the domed centres. They remind me of a 2cv wheel but more bulbous.

This car being on here makes me really happy. So thankful some of us still keep history going. Fingers crossed i just get it to the point of being used again, I think once its back on the road she will be able to see a fair few more years service. Had a quick look at the brakes again, it stuck back on straight away. To be fair i only freed off the piston but i can see it being that, i think the caliper is binding in the carrier though. I will strip it off again and PROPERLY go over the whole thing and make sure its all free. Hopefully then it will be sorted.

So quick shot back outside as the brake thing was annoying me, bar a full caliper rebuild ive done as much as i can i think. Everything off, cleaned up with a wire brush, copper slipped where needed and the piston driven out as far as id chance without poping it and pushed back multiple times. The car will now roll on my not very steep drive under its own weight after multiple pushes on the pedal and it stops when asked. I might, if its quiet tomorrow take it for a few laps of the close to make sure.

It will look great with this banded and the hub caps fitted. I agree more lows required. I had my van wheels banded with Banded Steel Wheels down Exeter way but wouldn't recommend

BANDED STEELS! GIVE THE PEOPLE WHAT THEY WANT. I always use Steve at Usher Engineering, superb job, cut then run on the lathe before sections are banded in. £50 a wheel and £15 for sand blasting if you want that. I've had 3 sets done by him and send using TNT. Here’s recommendation for where to get them banded ...

Never noticed the frt panel difference before, the earlier grille does accentuate the ovalized lights nicely even if I'm not so sure of the lower bumper. Small early rear lights too?

The bump stops will also need cutting down a bit too as apparently they get a bit crash when they are low

Taking those “no suspension lows” photos is what got me into hydraulics on my Acty. There was no going back when that picture was in my head!!
