Coming at it from a different angle, I work on cars and am thinking about technical stuff all day. I can't put up with watching very technical TV/YT series/videos. I just don't want to have to think that hard.
So a show that is easy-going, not full of "drama", and with a few little tidbits of informative guidance, is just enough for a relaxed show with an affable presenter and an achievable result.
Like, just to make that even more plain:
After watching that, I feel like I could go finish off one of my real world cars.
After watching Fast&Loud, I never felt like I could go out and build a pro-stock Camaro in a weekend.
And also:
I could have a conversation with Edd China, and feel like he was at least a little bit interested in some old 80s banger project I had going. Could I do the same with Richard Rawlings? Could I ...[and here we end this transmission]...
You see what I mean. Or maybe you don't. And yeah, who cares if he also sells rubber gloves? He never pushed the name of them, I didn't feel like the subject of some scripted advertising, and even if so, plenty of other people make a video as a conduit for business promotion, and if that gets good content made, I'm all for it. Especially if they're good gloves.
