Hi all
i'm just about to start a day van camper conversion on a 2012 Nissan Primastar.
She's an ex Scottish gas van, one owner, full service history with a good spec including electric windows, mirrors, parking sensors, air con, auto wipers etc.
So far I have stripped out the racking and removed the front bulk head.
One quirk of the vans is that they don't come with a passenger seat so I had to source one which was quite tricky as the trim is different to the Renault and Vauxhall variants.
She's going to be a two birth plus a dog with the usual side kitchen layout.
I will be making a few changes to my usual build. The ceiling will be a one piece panel not the usual two piece. There will be no windows in the rear doors so I will be fitted a rear view camera.
She should be complete in 3 weeks, weather permitting.
Cheers - mike

They are only sold as Renault here in Australia. Are they good van's?

The one after this is metallic black. They are not bad vans, they drive well and are fairly reliable. Cheers - mike

Without wishing to blow smoke up your hoop, the standard and lengths you go to is fantastic.
Some conversions look good, but underneath the vans are grubby, rotten and bodges... That looks properly well done.

I can't se the point in fitting a nice new conversion on top of 8 years worth of builders muck etc. Cheers - mike

Hi all Had a steady day on the Nissan today. The wiring loom above the rear doors has been moved. It now runs inside the box section so is no longer seen. I have run all the wiring for the rood lights, added 30mm of insulation and made and fitted the main roof panel. Tomorrow should see the lining panels remade in ply and probably lined with carpet. Cheers - mike

Following this with interest, considering building one myself in a Vivaro. Only problem I’ll face is it’ll need to sleep four of us, two adults and two kids and most rock and roll beds are ably big enough for two.

Hi there to sleep 4 you will need the long wheel base, hi roof, which can take a bed for two in the roof. Cheers - mike

How difficult is it to make the front seats swivel? is this something you have done with these vans?
My ideal day van would be either on a citroen dispatch or Vauxhall Vivaro base with a fixed double seat in the back, 2 captains chairs up front that can swivel to face the back and a basic kitchen unit midships, similar to what you have now.

hi 50bhp
fitting swivels is easy, finding single passenger seats is ni on impossible.
I fit swivels to the double passenger seats, check my other builds for details.

Hi all still plodding along with this one, the mains and 12v systems are now fully installed and tested. I have made the kitchen worktop, its in gloss black laminate not my usual matt black. The hole for the hob is cut and its ready for final install of the hob and worktop. Just waiting for a few bits to arrive before i can finish the kitchen. Monday should see the wardrobe side and front made and fitted, just waiting for final a decision on the final layout from the customer. Cheers - mike
