So, the opinion is a minimum of £200 per side, plus the value added, so that's pretty much a monkey. But there's no way of knowing what's there (or isn't!) until they start cutting, and then it's obviously too late. Could be looking at up to a grand. Time for some thinking... Very much so - you have to just dive deep and hold your breath - hope the rot doesn't run deep. Like I said - these rot very nicely sadly. Like I said - if you brought it down I could probably get my mechanic to look at it for you but he'd do some serious poking with a screwdriver.

Sometimes I feel we are all a bit hesitant to admit the real costs that we end up splashing out on our cars (either to the other half, mates or internet!!) Yep, I reckon there's a lot of fear about looking like a mug that makes people trim down the price paid for both vehicles and any work costs. Creates a false perception of the real cost of work... and as Grumpy said you can probably get it for a comfortable price but at what cost ultimately. I've had enough cheap things done to know they usually end up being a problem again shortly after. I used to share a studio with an old bloke who had retired and bought one of the final C15's produced circa 2003-ish to use as a work van for his little business he'd started up. He bought it brand new from a Citroen main dealer in Brighton. It actually started rusting very visibly within weeks of him owning it and it kept getting sent back. Eventually the dealer tried to get rid of him and they ended up in some kind of legal dispute (I forget the details now, and the outcome). But that thing literally rusted away in front of our very eyes. We'd go out to the car park regularly so he could show us the latest rash of rust to blight his brand new van. Shocking thing it was. So... possibly not worth throwing good money at.
