Update: March 2019. This is still available, but I now need to clear the space. Local scrapman will give me £140 for it, so last orders before it goes to scrap...
Original post:
I'm selling my 1987 Mazda 626 1.6LX, 106748 miles. It failed its MOT about 18 months ago on some sill welding and various other bits. I SORNed it thinking I'd take the opportunity to learn how to weld... but it's really not going to happen. So I hope someone else will be able to take it on.
Good stuff:
Engine is in good condition, starts and runs fine
Manual choke ;-)
Had the carb refurbished and tuned on a rolling road (a spare carb is included)
Engine electrics mostly replaced
The engine bay was previously waxed, and I've undersealed the car
Interior in generally good condition
Everything is as original as possible
2 owners from new
Despite being parked, I run it regularly
Pretty complete service history
Bad stuff:
Sill rust - previously had the sills welded up but it needs it again
Front passenger floor has some rust (wasn't enough to fail the MOT)
MOT also needed a wheel bearing and CV gaiter
OSF wing is rusting through - I filled and painted it but it's bubbling up again
Some rust in other places: petrol filler, boot pockets. Last time I took the boot apart the strut-tops looked OK (a common problem on these)
OSR tyre has a slow leak
Small car park bump on OSR door frame - filled and painted
It has metal hubcaps off a US 323, but one of them is missing
Also to note the 2014 MOT tester misread the mileage which I didn't manage to get fixed in time - should have been 98440 miles not 92440.
(photos taken last autumn - not much changed since then)
