It's a long story but dad has 2 Mk1 1300e's which are rotten and a relatively clean Mk1 1100 2Dr shell. He has owned all for years with intentions to restore when retired but unfortunately a bike accident and brain damage mean they remain a pipe dream. I'm trying to persuade him to clear garage space of projects he won't finish and replace them with usable cars. I'm not looking for an 'ebay' evaluation as thats silly money. What are 3 2Dr escort shells and lots of spares worth to someone? All cars and paperwork are still attached to cars and I'd like it to remain that way. If I can persuade him to sell I want the cars to be built and not used to rebadge other cars. Thanks in advance Tom

Hi, It's quite tricky, what you've asked for here is a bit like getting a house valuation without anyone seeing your house. Rotten escorts are worthless, their ID's are worth a bit though not legal at all. Solid shells are 2-5k spares - what spares, twincam engines are screws? Range from £30k-nothing. If your dad wants to sell them - I'd be interested if they're not totally rotten.

Sounds like a situation that Car SOS might help with? www.renegadepictures.co.uk/casting/car-sos_1128.aspxcarsos@renegadepictures.co.uk

If they are not to bad , ie just big holes in floors and sills , wings , inner wings etc and have trim , seats glass etc i expect the shells would make maybe 2.5-3k each VERY easily . Thats based on ratty european rolling shells on ebay going for 2k-ish which are LHD .
If it a 1300e you may as well whack another £1500 on that so possibly 3-4 for that .
Spares ,depends what you have . If there is a enough to get a few going again that might add a grand . Things like axles rarely come up complete now and if they do people want a fortune . As said , thing like washer bottles for a fortune , as does anything . Gearstick gators , 6 clock dashboards [110mph ] can go for up to £200 . If its the RS/mexico one with 130 or 140 mph on the speedo these can go up towards £500 .
Even stuff like seatbelts .
The problem is the people you deal with with old Escorts - i can guarantee that most people will be circling you like a vulture .
Might be a good idea to take some photos and try to get some sort of inventory of what you have . You could always sell of the main parts like axles , interiors etc then stick smaller stuff togther to sell in bundles on ebay .

He has stockpiled lots of bits to do as his retirement but unfortunately his eyesight was badly damaged in the crash and his attention span isn't there anymore. I haven't got the time to put in the many hours needed to do it. I'm trying to persuade him to clear the escorts and buy a D type replica, a mint Mk1 and a hot rod to take their place. Cars I can take him to shows in. He's stubborn so I don't know what's gonna happen but if anything is available it will be sold on here. I would rather sell to enthusiasts cheaply than to ringers for lots of money.

Judging by the stupidly high price of MK1 escorts and spares nowadays (or anything with a Ford badge pre 85), 2 rotten ones and a clean one will net you roughly £25 Billion quid-ish
