Before I saw your colour suggestions of blue or green I was thinking a nice bright gloss (but not metallic) orange. I can’t think of any specific colour names but I think the Mk2 escort had it as a standard option. Loving the car by the way. 😊 Edit... Google says signal orange.  |

I love the dark greys and reckon that's about as 'in your face' as you can get, without any assistance at all!  |

I like bright colours but I'm not sure if bright would be a bit to in your face.
Google Pro Touring, most a subtle shades and work really well

I'd suggest a non metallic dark blue ( Ford DE1606 for example) with the wheels in an ice white.
Monza Red with a white roof and wheels might also work, but there's no natural line on the body where you could split the colour.

Why not ape the old works cars with a white main colour with some red and green stripes somewhere ?

I wouldn't normally choose a grey/silvery colour but imagining this car in my mind's eye it would look great in that Aston shade. Failing that a nice bright red.
In my experience, dark colours, especially dark blue can totally kill a car. If it's not kept spotlessly clean it just looks like a dark shapeless blob. I believe it's known as death blue (or something like that) in the trade for what it does to resale values,

I think orange could work, but not keen on non-metallic (such as the signal orange colour seen on escorts/capris). The orange that may appeal would be Tangelo Pearl:  Paired with anthracite wheels and a dark interior Regarding the old DTV colours (silver with red/white/green stripes); not for this car. Me and the old man are considering collaborating on building a baby Bertha replica/homage next, I’d consider the competition paint scheme for that build. |

I believe it's known as death blue (or something like that) in the trade for what it does to resale values, Have to agree, dark blue is one of those colours I will always dodge regardless of cheapness lol |

Absolutely no colour that wasn’t available at the time, so no stupid Focus metallic greens etc. Just ‘normal’ whites, reds, yellow etc

But...my Mum also once had an HC Viva, which was a kind of pale-ish mint-ish green, which might look rather smart with some dark wheels. Ah! Here's one in the same colour:  |

Id think dark metallic silver or dark metallic red would work well (rover nightfire) I like bright colours, but I always think crazy cars such as yours look better in subtle colours, helps to keep a bit of the 'wolf in sheeps clothing' factor. Or for inyourface factor, something like Kawazaki green, with satin black bumpers etc  |

If you want a solid red, one of the most vivid reds I've ever seen in Audi's 'Ultimate Red';  Black vinyl interior and job's a good 'un! |

Use the mid metallic blue factory colour, and and a rich, dark gold for the wheels, possibly use the gold to accentuate the body,
