A little parcel for me arrived from Malaysia the other day. I have to thank Kingludba for that. I'd not ever gone wheel hunting in quantity before and his recent posts made me think, well, surely I must be able to get them too. Thanks for that eye-opener! The rubber tyre wheels are quite dear, more than I really wanted to throw at it for a first time purchasing, but the same person/business also does plastic one-piece wheels which looked pretty good in the pictures and were a lot cheaper, so I got a few of those too. What to start with? First off I tried my 510 track car. I don't know how but after painting this got a bit battered, I cut the windows out and it just looks spot on as-is. But anyway, off came the hotwheels wheels and on some black new wheels with the tyre writing. A little too plain and dull though. No detail now. So out with the chrome marker pen! PollittChris mentioned the same pen in one of his recent posts in this section - my dad got me the same one a while back to see if it would help and it's really good. Made doing these wheels really simple and they come up really interesting. Not sure if it's actually better than the original wheels i removed though. Pretty please with this cheap little Evo though. And this Mazda pickup had been waiting for these wheels to arrive. I'd already painted the chassis from chromed plastic to anthracite. I flipped the tyres though, as I didn't like the writing on them - and this is pretty good. Now just to detail it.

More playing around - Some 70 odd car shells waiting to be painted. A friend of mine has another friend that has a little bodyshop and passes him the last bits of paint he can't use. So my buddy paints for me, with an airbrush I bought him, which makes for a much nicer finish. So I spend far too much time picking colours... Aside from that, I've had this Mustang shell lying around for years. I lost the chassis for it but it's a really nice body, so I resisted the urge to throw it out and eventually figured I could just cut up another one. I found a Matchbox Lexus chassis that nearly lined up and set to cutting it down to fit. This I did but the wheels just would not sit right at all, the rears kept popping up into the arches at weird angles every time I pushed it together. So I threw that away and my eyes alighted on another Lexus chassis, from a Jada wheel donor and I lined it up - the wheelbase is right, the overhangs work just fine as a splitter and diffuser. I just have to cut off the mounting points and it should glue in fine. Also waiting some new life was an Alfa Junior. I popped on some of the new wheels Did not like Better More of that chrome paint... Like that. I'll do the details on it too and remodel the interior so it becomes a more period track-orientated car.

Back to the pictures of the collection. Didn't realise it's a couple of months since I put up any. Time flies! I dug out a box that's been buried in the wooden chest for years. I used to build the occasional 1/24 car model here and there. I have always loved the Olds 442. This was an AMT/ERTL kit. With just the one surviving wheel. House moves and so on have left my kit models ruined. This post will be cringe. One that has survived well is the Corvette. Although I did build it in the early 00s, so yes that's metallic blue... And another survivor - all the wacky paint cars have done OK... It was supposed to be a WRC car but I thought I could make it into a track car. What was I thinking... And where is the spoiler? The Pantera seems to have survived OK too! Well, almost. And there are little chrome corner bumpers missing too. Oh. Here's actually a complete car. With many bits painted gold that should not be. Now, this thing... I found this in a garage / barn in front of a Toyota Starlet. The owner was a previous model builder too and I took it home to revive it. It had some awful 90s paint scheme - I gave it another. Also I think those are not the wheels for it so I must have had them spare from something. They look awful. I actually don't even know what it is. Nissan Gloria? Cedric? Toyota Chaser? JZX100 or whatever? And of course in the 90s I built Revell F1 cars, didn't everyone? The Mercedes is actually fine, the wheels are click-on so that missing one was popped back into place. Ferrari is a bit bruised. And speaking of poor Ferraris... This is one I actually built a couple of years ago, and I spent a lot of time on it for once. I wanted to really build something special. I believe those are 19" or 22" Kranze Bazreia wheels, and the engine bay is finely detailed, as is inside... the colour is of course red but a modern metalflake one. This thing sat very pretty indeed. But it's so broken, it's actually broken. No idea how this happened. Well actually, it appears something has got spilled over the models, something corrosive, and it's done some right damage to a few. I've some others too... 1/32 F40 Built years ago 1/32 T-bucket This was built out of spares, and it's good fun. Totally repairable. 1/43 R5, Heller Kit. And a Warhammer figure. I was never into Warhammer, so I don't know where that guy came from. I did paint it though. R5 I also painted, sorry. Awful job, and broken axle is almost beyond fixing (strongly). Tempted to bin it tbh. Almost done, but also in the box... Stuka!!! And Tiger Erm... can you figure out which bit goes where?

I'm no fan of SW so no problem binning the blisters. These will get meths to the tampos and hopefully leave me with some cool cars!

Next box is one that has not that much in it really, but all large or awkward stuff. I think I mentioned before about a 1/14th-ish Escort that used to be wired remote control, but now is radio remote controlled with an Impreza chassis. It started out life as a silver car with awful stickers that got damaged, so in the stripdown it also got painted half black as well. Also in the big box is a radio control Evo... with no controller. And a 1/20th Cadillac Coupe De Ville, for which the controller doesn't make it drive. It makes it JUMP. Also some static models. Burago 1/18 Viper. And a 1/16 Chevy Monte Carlo F&F3, which if you look in the corner you'll see I got for an absolute steal. Would love to build it, but don't want to take it out... Years ago Tesco got Maisto to make all their toy car range, so there was some decent stuff produced. Like a GTO And an R34 Skyline (I've two of these) Jada 1/24 240 Also treasured away are these mint-in-box 131 Abarth rallycars, by Burago - - and Polistil Also by Polistil is this lovely 1/43 Fiat Regata A few matchbox I bought at a toy fair last year I guess, also in the same big box (where they shouldn't be) And a trio of Herpa BMWs my dad gave me on my birthday a few weeks ago And to finish off, a small selection of plastic cars. These are about 1/63 scale - smaller than the usual current matchbox scale which is around 1:50-1:55, and bigger than 1:72 train scale. My parents used to have thousands of them, as well as tractors, trailers, steam rollers and maybe little trucks. I will have to ask them why - I recall that they used to sell them, but I cannot place the context, somewhere between them running a classic car magazine and my dad making wooden toy trucks. Anyway And lastly, which also hints at where we might be going next, is this Miniauto 1/43 Tatra T613, and roughly 1/35 Wartburg 353 pullback model from the DDR.

I was driving down the coast having taken the weekend off and heading down to stay somewhere, and I went through a village that has a great car boot sale. Even though I was on the wrong day for the big one, there were still a few stalls out and I had a mooch around. Got this little Dinky coal cart, which is just a nice casting, and also a Hotwheels Bustleback Caddy which the seller gave me for free and wouldn't take any money. On my burfday an' all

And this - I've really wanted to cut up a Siku LWB Transit for a long time but every one I've bought has always been intact with all doors and glass. Given their rarity it would be a shame, but now I have one sans door...

What make is the yellow Land Rover in theline second from the right? I've been looking for a chunky looking LR90 for a while now, and that one appears to look a little better than the Matchbox one at the front. Any chance of a few pictures of the two together for comparaissons sake please.

I also have an Oldsmobile 442 kit the same as yours, from what i remember the kit came with "hop up parts" drag slicks for the rear, side pipes etc that you could fit instead of the standard parts when building the kit, I painted mine matte brown for some reason. i will see if i can dig it out I'm sure i have the original box also
