When I had a Lancia Y10 in the late '90s, there was another one locally (Seaford in East Sussex), it was a GTie resprayed yellow with some very cool (I thought) alloys. The only way I can describe them is as looking like a tape spool, a reel-to-reel rather than a cassette. Like this: Any ideas on what they might have been? Does anyone still make anything like it?

They're not the ones you're talking about but Rays Engineering's brought out "Brainer" wheels under their exec brand Victrix. They have more holes but are similar in design.

Sounds like Renault 5 Gordini wheels, like these...

Sounds like Renault 5 Gordini wheels, like these... Certainly a possibility. Would they fit a Lancia?

There's the Cromodora CD58 which looks a bit like it and would fit a Lancia Y10:

They definitely weren't the Monte Carlo ones, but the CD58 could be a possible.

Alpine-Renault A310 wheels? I wouldn't swear to it, but somewhere in the back of my mind I've an itch telling me they were made by Gotti and thus might have different mounting patterns to the Alpine's weird French three-stud one EDIT: thinking about it, they might even be the same as the Gordini posted above

Where they definitely alloys? These trims look pretty similar to what you describe...

Ronal did some that come pretty close... Or Advan YH, which fit the bill quite well: Might be too big for an Y10 though...

Little fun fact about the CD58, they're made of magnesium and incredibly light...and should be cheap too as the X1/9 crowd doesn't want them and they're quite narrow.

Are you sure? I've had a couple of set, and although they were quite narrow, and light I'm pretty sure they were just plain old aluminium.

Ooh, the Advans are very close to what my (possibly feeble) memory recalls.

Not sure why but any kind of three spoke, or indeed these kind of wheel, never quite seem to look right. Not sure why that is? Maybe just that we are more used to it being decided into 4 or 5

Certainly a possibility. Would they fit a Lancia? Euro/Italian/French. I think so. I think you'll find that the Gordini wheels are only three stud. Renault had some odd ideas like that !
