Yianni Supercar Customiser was actually just putting sticky-backed plastic on cars I know all they do is wrap very expensive car's but, I actually enjoyed it, relatively non scripted/no fake drama and they all seem genuinely enthusiastic about what they are doing. Actually managed to watch all 20 episodes of it.

Yep very disappointed with the Mini, odd number plates ( white on the front black/silver on the rear), it's clearly been reshelled as its a Mk3 shell on a G plate and I'm sure the engine colour was not the correct colour green, didn't like the look of the fit on the doors either, still the Mini Specialist thought it was great so what do I know? 😆 I know it's only a TV programme, but come on if it's aimed at enthusiasts then at least get it right! They openly said in the program it was re-shelled, even the guy selling it said it was Fair enough then, I probably had stopped concentrating by that point, 😆

When Salvage Hunters/classic cars did the Golf Gti, did they mention repairing the the bulkhead? I watched it but don't remember seeing that? If you check mot history, it failed for the central lower bulkhead being rotted out. Its a common thing on mk1s, they mustve missed it when they handed over £6k for it.

They openly said in the program it was re-shelled, even the guy selling it said it was They certainly did., They didnt seem to think that was a problem though. Question to people who know about Minis, isnt that a problem, doesnt it reduce the value a lot to be basically a later car with early parts fitted?

No one likes to think there car has been messed around with so if it has a bodyshell thats wrong for the year it sets alarm bells ringing - Was it reshelled for rust ? Was it stolen and given another ID ? Or more than likely , has someone made something from parts they had left over ? If so , what standard has it been done to and where do these parts come from .... I think a lot of people are like me , if your buying a 1968 car you want one from 1968 , not one made from allsorts . Also every now and again you will see someone trying to sell a 60s cooper with a later bodyshell and they never sell . Plenty of other minis around so why buy a dodgy dog ?

I am watching the mini episode now and I would say that the car also has a 80s A+ engine as it's painted that horrible sick yellow. The bloke states it's all 1968 apart from the body....? Porky pies me thinks. Would not be surprised if it started as a Y or A plate early 80s model that's been blinged up and had a new id.

The thing is, if that Mini has been re-shelled into a later second hand shell (which I think they said it had in the program) then it isn't entitled to keep it's original 1968 reg number. Of course it could be that that plate was applied as a personal plate, but then the car wouldn't show as a 1969 registration on the DVLA tax checker, which it does. So, not a car I'd want to be paying good money for, especially after it's been all over TV.

]That's all well and good but at least make the plates match!!! 😆😆😆 I thought it was strange they should have non-matching plates on the car, but by the time they'd got to the Mini specialists to sell the car the front plate had disappeared completely. It had actually failed an MOT on a missing front number plate in Dec 17, along with a long list of other things. When they bought the car it had a stick on plate on the bonnet, I guess after the respray they forgot to order and fit a suitable matching plate. They also seem to have forgotten to tell DVLA of the colour change to both the Mini and the Lotus.

Been watching a fair bit of quest TV while on night shift with baby. Thoughts summarised;
* Turbo Pickers - Paul Cowland and his garage. Buying £1k snotter, properly fixing them. Paul and his mechanic are on Twitter, both very knowledgeable.
* Goblin Garage - proper brain-dead TV, but I like it. When you've been up 20+ hours and just want drivel, it's fine.
Jimmy DeVille is actually bloody clever, have a search about him. Had a program before where he travelled the world, fannying around with engines. Really geeky.
Helen Stanley... Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Proper petrolhead, has her own garage, collection of cars ... Some junk. Fit too.
The Canadian... No idea.
* Yanni. Watched one. Very pimp my ride. The guys that do the work, are obsessively good.
The Eastern Europe guyeho does vinyls, saw Yanni on Instagram, then backpacked to the UK to get a job, working on cars he loves.
Just my 2p.

I must admit I've been watching Graveyard Carz recently. There's goofing around on there and the main guy is a bit of a fool at times but he does get properly geeky when he goes into the subtleties of various cars.
They always restore to stock as well. That's either a good thing (I like it) or not depending on your taste. All US muscle cars of course.

Marks no fool, just very dry but insanely talented and knowledgeable

There are far more episodes of Graveyard Carz than have aired on UK television. When Discovery has a day of it, it's the same 6 or 8 episodes over and over. I've seen some bits on YouTube from other series that I've never seen even advertised.
