I’ve a pair of tatty pork-pie stop/tail lights in the garage that might be of use. I’ll try and sort a picture.

Thanks let me know, I might be sorted with some but we are having a few technical issues as they have no stop lights in them so I am trying to fit two bulbs in the space for one, so it would be good to have a back up plan.

Stop / tail light bulbs (two filaments - one bulb) are around £1.50 -1.60 each, only question is off-set 'pegs' or straight ....

I tried to fit some but using a bulb holder from a Mondeo but even after trimming bits off it its too big for the space so I have bought some LED bulbs as they are smaller, I am hoping to solder wires to them and make a simple bulb holder and then might be able to fit them inside the light

The issue with the current lamp is it uses Festoon bulbs not normal ones so the holders are completely different and thats how the lights are so small

Thanks some one had suggested this but the one they showed me was £100+! The only concern I had was would younger drivers know whats going on? Mine has indicators but no stop light I thought these would work if I had all red lights as I could flash the brake light but my issue is I am missing a brake light, the unit I have is only side and indicator, they do make them but they would cost nearly as much as I paid for the trailer!

Hi, Can you have reduced voltage by way of a resister for the tail light and full voltage for the brake light, then it will use just the one 21w filament.

After a few random Ebay purchases of various LED bulbs I now have stop and tails. I just removed the existing tail lamp and bolted in a piece of 3mm thick plastic, drilled two holes in it and will glue the bulbs in.

Nice. I am involved with a Westfalia Bremen trailer. A bit newer than what you have there, but still wanting modern lighting to support the original in day to day use. Settled on these things here www.ebay.co.uk/itm/192208250461?ssPageName=STRK:MESINDXX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1436.l2649 which are tucked underneath and not seen until lit. These are cheap as toast (provided its not gluten free organically harvested from Mars bread) and in use while we convince ourselves its the way to go. Other better, brighter tidier units are out there but are humungus compared to these.

Thanks they look excellent, I am sticking with my others for now but have bought some anyway, perhaps I can buy another trailer to use them on?

Nice work.
It might be worth having a close look at the hitch. If it’s as old as the rest of the trailer it may well be a 2” one, rather than a 50mm. If it is, and it’s worn, then there’s a chance it could come uncoupled on a bumpy road. Make sure you have a decent safety chain on it.

Thanks It came with the correct 2" ball looks to be tight but I do also have a new breakaway cable just incase. Now I need a prewar Morris Minor wheel or a cheap rebuild of my spare

You’re ok then, if you’ve got the right ball. They’re easily told apart because the 50mm one has a flat on the top, and the 2” one doesn’t.
I can’t help with the wheel. I suspect a rebuild isn’t going to be cheap though. Do any of the later pressed steel ones fit? Like the ones from a Series2 Morris 8?
