Lease deals look good until you read the small print. I’ve heard to many stories of people being billed thousands for damage repairs and missed service schedules etc when the car goes back to put me off for life. Had one in the past and didnt have any issues, it's same as a hire car, anything other than fair ware and tear will be charged for

To be honest since I’ve had the car advertised it’s screen has cracked, it’s not across the screen or anything and I’ve pictured it. I can get it fixed on insurance or the seller can use it as an advantage, this is stated in the advert along with a picture. Price wise I’ve dropped it £500 to account for the screen and to entice people but all I get are wasters, I’ve placed it into an auction now to see how that fares, it’s certainly getting more ‘watchers’ and it’s getting the bids in but I’m still getting the regular ‘2k cash today bruv’ trash. If trader wasn't so expensive nowadays I’d of gone there straight away, I suppose you get what you pay for. Get the screen fixed. It's 100% why your car hasn't sold. People do not want to buy something they immediately need to fix. I had two screens crack on me while the cars were advertised for sale, both at the same time a few months ago, so I feel the pain, all £240 of the pain, but they were unsaleable until the screens were done, and I did try. Also, autotrader is currently 4.95 for 8 weeks. It's one of the very cheapest options at the minute and gets actual customers. I think your right. For me, personally I would want to know myself it’s been done correctly, I’ve had too many screens leak through Ill fitting but I suppose everyone is different. It’s frustrating because it’s dead money, I’ll replace the screen then that money will end up getting knocked off the price anyway. Buyers market I suppose.

He was billed £3k for one van, lease company were charging for stone chips, wear and on rubber floor mats, chips in windscreen, none branded tyres, serviced at none main dealer garages. This was on a three year old working van with 100k on the clock.

I have noticed stuff has become difficult to sell this past year and not just cars. People are a lot less interested in spending money on stuff they don't really need. I used to sell a fair bit of car tat each year, mostly to allow me to buy and maintain other bits of car tat. A few years back I could buy a set of wheels, give them some tlc and sell them within days or even hours in some cases and make a modest amount of beer money. Recently I am lucky if I break even on a set of wheels. For example I had a set for sale recently which owed me £40 plus an afternoon of my weekend, finished to a very good standard and priced at a very reasonable £80. Still have them, haven't sold! A few years back I could have sold them within a day at that price. I think it can be put down to people being unsure about the current economic climate, thus making them less willing to spend money if they don't have to. I know I have been a lot more careful with my money the past year.

Sold my partners son's Civic R via Facebook and his previous Astra via Autotrader. Gumtree was a waste of time, People wanting £1500 off the car without even looking. Put an ad on Pistonheads. Zero interest.
We had a few enquiries via Autotrader, and since they mask your mobile number that's nice as well. Sold via FB but my feeling is that it would have gone via AT a short while later.
It's all in the ad I guess. Lots of pictures as well taken as you can. Show any defects and say so clearly. An honest seller seems to be a rare item so try to be one.
Don't want more than the car is worth I guess as well. We had the Civic on for £4K and had zero interest, dropped it to £3.8, sold it for £3.7.Some people had similar cars listed for £6K! Not going to happen.
People just don't have cash to spend. Wages are not going up and the cost of housing, rent or mortgages just eats up spare money leaving people with just enough to cover the main items food, bills etc. A new car really does come way down the list, and people are definately far more shy of taking out a loan from the bank, even if they can get one!

Was just about to put my Jeep on Autotrader, until I got to the payment bit! £58 for 6 weeks! Last time I advertised on AT I didn't even get a time waster.
So it's on ebay classified for £17.50 for 28 days. Will let you know how it goes. (item #232543853322 if anyone wants a Jeep, can do RR discount lol)

Bought very recently on Autotrader - Definite private trader with 5 cars in a field by his house, and I guess most people would be put off by a 217,000 mile 2002 SAAB 95 Aero - Not me. Quick inspection proved fine - Always have a OBD-II reader with you - It had it's engine management light on but it was nothing more than the wrong vac hose installed. £650 and very impressed with it so far. Would only use Autotrader from now on. Facebook is a joke, Gumtree is criminal country, eBay is just full of d1cks.
