Radiant Red 1989 Mk 4 Escort XR3i.
£1995
I've owned it since March 2016 and I've used it for my daily transport whilst my Capri has been getting restored.
Its a classic hot hatch of the 80's and being one of the later ones comes has the EFi CVH engine. It comes with heated front screen, electric windows, remote electric mirrors as standard and was pretty well equipped for 1989. The amount of positive comments I get in this far exceeds what I get in my Mk2 transit or Capri so will be sad to see it go as has been a reliable and fun mode of transport. As you can see I like old Fords but I can't keep them all now the Capri is nearing completion
The paintwork and body are far from perfect, but it does clean up well, and can be used as it is without worry. Its pretty solid but as it is an old ford your better off viewing it to make your own mind up by coming to see it. Its had some work on the arches and cills previously with some mismatched paint. I was going to tidy it up to sell but figured I wouldn't so that I wasn't hiding anything, There are a few dents and scrapes along the body that are highlighted in the photos. The battery tray which can go on these is in good condition, and all structural areas are in good nick. (No advisories on the last MOT)
The interior is good condition although some of the door cards vinyl is lifting which is a classic problem with these. The ignition key is currently stuck in the lock however has an imobiliser. (I will supply a full lock set (inc fuel cap) I purchased just haven't go around to fitting)
Ive put a lot of new parts on it as its been my daily driver and I want it to be reliable (which it has been). I've done 30k miles in it so like to hope any issues would of happened whilst I've had it.
Examples of what I've purchased/done:
- EBC greenstuff pads and discs
- Rear Drums and pads
- Braided brake hoses
- New Alternator
- Oil and Filter change every 6k miles
- New spot light
- Central locking motor
- Braided fuel line and Fuel filter
- Pirelli Tyres x 4 (still with good tread)
- Speakers
- Spark plugs (changed again 2k miles ago)
- Ignition leads
- Clutch quadrant
- Thermostat
- Water pump
- Exhaust
It will come with some spare parts that I've accrued to finish it off
- lock set
- Rear bumper (in radiant red)
- Standard Parcel shelf
- Drivers side skirt
- Rear wiper arm and motor
- Some service items and other interior trim bits and bobs.
Its standard bar the rear tinted windows and braided brake lines.
The engine does is good and will do 40mpg on a run it does use a bit of oil so needs keeping an eye on. This is probably more noticeable as I do up to 500miles a week.
- MOT until June 2018 (no advisories on last MOT)
- Reliable daily driver
- 1600 EFi CVH engine
- 105000 miles - Its in use so may go up
I've done my best to describe and take photos of the problem areas. However if you have any questions or even better, if you want to arrange a viewing please drop me a message or call me on 07896212041. The car is Located in Crystal Palace South London, however I work in Hatfield (North of London) so potentially can bring it to you if its on my way home or close by. Its registered at my parents address in Saffron Walden Essex, so also would be happy to meet there for a viewing and pick up.
Thanks
Josh
