I had one of these a while back. It was painted a lovely silver that made it look a bit like a Porcsche 396 and a bit less like a toy. It got involved in an accident and written off, plus needed a lot of holes in the floor welding so drained my energy too much in the end. I bought out the salvage from the write-off, got it repaired to quite an amazing standard by a body shop but immediately sold it on as just looking at the thing stressed me out by that point, it now lives in Germany as far as I know. In terms of actually driving it - quite fun but the 3-speed auto seemed to be geared waaaaay too low. It really is a city car as standard. I'd love to pick up another one and shove the 5-speed gearbox in. I hear it's genuinely pretty much a bolt-in as the chassis is already setup and drilled to accept both from the factory - it being a tarted up Micra. It also understeered but that could have probably been fixed with a suspension upgrade - very affordable again given it's all Micra. Have you seen this in the 'cafe racer' thread? It needs to be made a reality.

It needs to be made a reality. That looks stunning withe the deseam on the C-pillar, got any other photos of it or a thread on here? I did show swmbo the cafe racer shop, she wasn't a fan I think in terms of looks she wants to keep it relatively standard, it has been lowered and will be getting wider wheels to make the most of the new power but thats about it really.

Here are a couple of photos that hopefully show the deseam. I should really start a thread for my remaining car and stop lurking. Hope to see your Fig about at some point as I'm only over near Worcester.

Alas, D-Day came and went. Fury tried to start the car for the first time and nothing. Cranked over but no fire. Isolated it to something causing the injectors not to fire; Spark plugs are firing, fuel rail has fuel and pressure, pump is priming fine. Something is stopping the fuel from getting from the injectors to the cylinder. Investigation has started, apparently signs point at something in the fig loom, rather than the engine loom, perhaps aftermarket immob? In any case, car wont be ready for RRG tomorrow Shall keep everyone updated as the week goes on.

So the symptoms appear to be pointing at the Micras old NATS system playing silly buggers. Awaiting further diagnosis and hopefully a fix.

Getting close to the end! Issue was found, apparently there are some discrepancies between the loom on the car and the loom from another donor. A few quick tests saw some signs of life, progress is starting on monday getting the looms swapped over and we should hopefully be somewhere close! If anyone knows any good rolling road mappers in the westmidlands that specialise in Nistune ECUs please let me know

So Close And yet so far... Finally got it running, went to test run and the oil pressure sensor popped out as soon as it revved, stripping the thread. Were hoping to pick up today but it looks like we've had yet more delays.

It lives!
To fill you in, since the last post there have been multiple problems.
The oil pressure sensor popped out and got repaired, when trying to start again, nothing. Just sat there cranking. Auto electrician was called out and did some sparky magic, still nothing. We ran some tests and pin-pointed it to the immobiliser.
Those of you that know, will understand the Nissan Anti Theft System is a b**tard. Decided to curse word out on us and not play ball. A non-NATS ecu was brought in, and another electrician brought in to wire it up. Still nothing.
I went over myself and took a spare loom from a NATS car and studied that, wiring diagrams and another non-nats loom that couldn't be used.
I eventually found that the non-nats has an additional ignition input that simply didn't exist on the nats loom. Alongside some other minor pin changes, I swapped an un-used acc in on the ecu over to the missing ign input.
Travelled over to the shop today, threw it in the car and fired on the first attempt.
To say I'm chuffed is an understatement, we're starting to see the end.

Well she's home! Story so far: Following the last post we were advised we could collect after much headache. 20 minutes into the journey the car grinds to a halt. Unfortunately I was unable to recognise pre-det. Car got recovered back, engine stripped out and a new (used) 1.3 picked up and thrown in. As it turns out the ecu that we thought could handle the boost could not. The car was gotten running again and drove home under is own power n/a. Upon getting the car home the sheer scale of issues became apparent. - Power steering didn't work, leaking from the banjo bolt out of the PS pump. Investigation showed it loaded with chemical metal trying to fix a leak caused by two crush washers smashed together. New washers in place and that's sorted. - Throttle cable had about an inch of play in it, adjustment was as tight as it could be. Pulled that out and rerouted it to rest on the hot side of the bulk head and that was that sorted. - Horn and turn signals were not plugged back in when the front end was reassembled. Plugged back in and work fine. That's what I've managed to fix in the last couple of days. Additional problems include: Rad fan not wired in Rev counter not wired in Reverse switch not wired in Temp gauge not wired in Heater Matrix is blown Main intake pipe is secured only by the rubber hoses on each end All the old Figaro engine loom is still present and needs removing Maf sensor has just failed Ecu needs replacing and the car mapping, wastegate can be reconnected following that In addition, there are still multiple issues that existed before the swap: Alignment is way off centre Rear end still needs repairing Bonnet release cable has completely seized and needs replacing I've been requested by SWMBO to fully go over the car and find absolutely every issue with the car and prioritise what needs doing. All going well myself and adam73bgt will be doing that this weekend. I'm sure he will take great pleasure in poking holes in the car! Onwards and upwards I guess

I don’t understand how ‘professionals’ think it’s acceptable to return cars back to owners in this condition.
Absolute disgrace

Well, we have a list. Added a few more non-urgent 'nice to haves' like the radio and central locking too. Watch this space, hopefully we can make some real progress now.

Not sure how I haven’t been on this thread before, but I always thought these were cool little cars, and I love what you’ve done with this! Gutted for you in the way you got the car back, hopefully you can get it sorted soon and actually get out and enjoy it. Did the company have much to say regarding how they supplied the car back to you?
