Hi, I'm going to put a scorpio engine, the dohc 2000 16v, same engine as the escort mk5 rs2000 whit a little less hp, will it fit straight on the type 9 box? thinking of an mt75 later on but for now i'm only doing the engine swap. will the flywheel/clutch fit straight?

I've got an rs2000 16v on a type 9 in my mk1 Escort. That goes straight on, but you only get half the clutch pedal travel with a FWD flywheel and clutch cover. I changed mine to a RWD CVH flywheel and pinto clutch set up. Yours should go straight on but you may need to try different length release bearings(cheap enough). I think I used a long mk3 Cortina one

That engine came in the sierra range with the 5 speed box, the clutch and flywheel from that would suffice.

Thanks for the answers, changed my mind and i\m restoring the 16v first, and get it in the sierra along with an mt75, this engine did not come with the sierra tho ;-)

The late 2.0 DOHC or "twin cam" engines available in the Sierra are essentially the same as the I4 from the Scorpio. ( I assume thats what xbl means) There's also a 2.3 version available in Scorpio (RWD or Galaxy (FWD) flavors. I'm told people fit the rs2000 head to the 2.3 bottom end to make a high compression 2.3. A.J |
