I've got a 1.8 Vectra B (I know...) and since I've had it to get it to charge I've had to rev it past 2.5k to get it excited. No battery light at all even on just ignition. Garage tells me it's the voltage regulator at fault, so tonight fit a known working second hand one and guess what....
Now am I right in thinking that the battery light is part of the self exciting circuit, and with it not being on chances are the bulb has blown breaking the circuit - and if the bulb is Ok, am I ok to run an ignition live to bypass that to the small wire in the back of the alternator, so I won't have a light fail safe but it will at least self excite?
