Hi guys, going to look at a modified car to buy on Sunday. It's 3 hours away, so kind of need a way of getting it home if I like it! Does anyone have a good plan?

If you have a policy now give then a ring and ask if they do temp cover. Had to do it a few times when my car died and I borrowed another, I was with admiral and paid some thing like 30 for a month for a variety of stuff. The actual temp cover sites seem to be major rip offs. |

Hi, The only fly in the ointment is it can take days before it appears on MID, so it will show up on ANPR as uninsured so you will get a tug.

Yes...or talk your way out of it ;-) Once got pulled as showing up for no insurance at 1 in the morning (I'd insured to start at 1min past midnight). They really didn't take that at face value and were all over the car anyway as they 'didn't like the look of it' ha! |

Is ANPR actually effective? I bought a car and taxed it at the post office the next day. A few months later I went online to check whether the mot was up and it showed as untaxed from when I bought, luckily DVLA accepted it was there cock up and changed it to taxed. But the amount of cops I drove past with ANPR and I never got pulled over for being untaxed.

I knew they had ANPR as it said so on the side of the cars, as for whether they were on another job etc I wouldn't know. All I know is they didn't seem to pick it up or weren't bothered by it when I drove past. Just my experience of it. |
