I've got a Mercedes W123CE with no engine. Does anyone out there know if a M103 (out of a W126 300SE) will fit? It's a five speed manual. Just wondered if any of you had done it, and if it was a pain in or not. Thanks in anticipation, Ron

It fit's in easy enough, but will only fit to a gearbox from a m102/3. The m110 gearbox wont fit.

Thank you! I've been offered an M103 engine, gearbox and loom. So I hoped the whole lot would go in together.

Hello again, can anyone identify either of these items? From a M103 Mercedes. I've got the engine in, gearbox, prop shaft, radiator and hoses and I'm just starting to wire it up. Loom is mostly in place but I don't know where these two bits go, knowing what they do would be a start. Any help gratefully received. Many thanks, Ron

And I realise the big box is the ECU, wondered where the plug plugs.

I've got a similar plug to that in your last photo in the rear tail lights of my w108.

The top photo is the crank sensor I believe.
Great that you've made progress getting the engine and gearbox in!

Thank you! It's been a lot of fun. There's a sensor that looks like this one under the oil filter, it's a bit smaller though. I though that was the TDC sensor, is that the same thing as a crank sensor?

Iirc, the sensor you've got is for diagnostics only and lives on a bracket by the crank pulley (the crank sensor is the one under the oil filter).
The plug looks like the one that connects to the main loom in the bottom of the fuse box, use this for the ignition lives and gauge feeds.

The ECU 0075451532 / 0280800286 is the main engine ECU but I'm guessing you know that already Iirc, the sensor you've got is for diagnostics only and lives on a bracket by the crank pulley (the crank sensor is the one under the oil filter). The plug looks like the one that connects to the main loom in the bottom of the fuse box, use this for the ignition lives and gauge feeds. Aah yes, the M117 has the same diagnostics-only sensor too.

The slipper fits! Thanks for the encouragement, and advise. I meant to post this up months ago, but I've been busy driving it around with a stupid grin on my face.
