Free to a good home
1995 N-Reg MK1 Mondeo 1.8TD Estate
Green
MOT expired, sure it will pass with ease or with very little
Very, very solid underneath
Mechanically very solid. Starts first turn of the key (well, with a jump start at the moment)
Not overly rusty. Paint very worn and faded. Could do with a couple of new doors on the passenger's side at least and a new front bumper. Drivers side quite straight.
Interior clean and tidy enough. Headlining sagging a little at the rear.
Drives extremely well.
130k-odd miles
This was bought by myself and a group of friends last year to complete the Ramshackle Rally to Munich and back via a different route (a scenic route both ways). It covered over 5000 miles in 10 days and did not miss a beat. I know it could do with a new Thermostat, but aside from cosmetics, that's about it. I didn't do the rally myself in the end due to work commitments, but the Mondeo completed it with ease and the guys came second overall and won the prize for "Spirit of Ramshackle".
Would suit someone doing another similar event or worth restoring for a MK1 Mondeo fan. I had it on our ramp last year and couldn't believe how clean and solid the underside was.
It's been kept until now as one of the guys was planning on doing another tour this year, but that hasn't come about.
I'd rather see it be used for something worthwhile than scrapped, so we're not looking for anything for it, just a new home.
Can't state enough how well the engine runs and drives. No knocks, bangs or smoke.
Collection from Bridgnorth WV15
Pics to follow, but it's no looker, just very willing workhorse.
Cheers
Mike

Was just looking for a mk1 mondeo estate, as my old one was a canny car. Doubt it'll drop through, but if nobody takes it, I'll have it

Needs a jump start as the battery isn't holding a charge, but with a boost pack or jump leads it never fails to start and runs and drives like a dream once it's going.

Strada, Is this the one you mentioned in the MK1 1.8TD thread? Any chance of any photos? All the very best, Geoff.

Sorry, I've been struggling for time to get to the car, jump start it, pull it out and get some pictures as it's parked between two other cars at the moment. This is a picture from the day before it's epic European Road Trip. Save for some more tape on the NSF corner of the front bumper, it doesn't look any different though.....

The old proverb "Don't look a gift horse in the mouth" springs to mind, (or "Don't wait for photos of a free car"). On the face of it i agree with you, but I'm 350 mile away which makes it kinda hard to get up the road with no MOT or a trailer! More of a cliche than a proverb, but there is always more to a story! Just like when i first heard of this, i didnt know it had no MOT and that it was free! Thanks for the photo Strada and i am tempted, but as above, distance is the issue just now with no way of getting it home. Really hope this gets someone to bring it back to life! All the very best, Geoff

It can be trailered away or driven to a pre-booked MOT slot. It would drive anywhere in the country and beyond without missing a beat, of that I am sure... (obviously I can't guarantee that as it's a 22 year old free car, but I wouldn't have any problem driving it anywhere. Mechanically it's golden)

All the very best, Geoff Well the original description says MOT expired and I guess you knew you had no trailer ... Why do i get the feeling you are still having a go at me when you STILL don't have all the facts! 27th of June was when i first heard of this car and this thread started 14th August! During the gap in dates, Strada did get in touch which i belatedly replied to. There is still more to this story than that which is between me and Strada! The most important thing is someone appears to be benefiting from this groups generosity!
